  1. If you look through the archives, Barney posted this a couple years ago. You can still contact him with info. Of course the price of the system has gone up a lot since then... Re: Teves Brake repairs #118949 - 09/02/02 09:45 PM Edit post Edit Reply to this post Reply Reply to this post Quote I am checking in because I had heard that the TC used the Teves system as do our Reattas. Two things..... Prior has done lots of rebuilds for Reatta owners. Their price, service, and warranty is super. The cost for the Reatta is $405 including shipping. You cannot touch those prices at GM. Flushing the system is cheap insurance against failures from damaged seals. Dot 3 fluid will absorb 1-2% moisture each year, this moisture will corrode aluminum and rust steel. The rust and corrosion particles will float in the fluid and scratch and damage seals and "o" ring. It can also get stuck on the ABS valve seals and cause malfunctions. Flush your brakes. If your Chrysler dealer doesn't know how, try a VW or Saab repair shop, they also used the Teves system. If you would like to find more information on testing the Teves system. Go to www.reatta.net and look at the Brake section. This will help you diagnose problems. If anyone in your club or on this discussion has input, please send it to me at Barney@texas.net -------------------- Barney Eaton Reatta technical advisor for BCA and keeper of the Reatta database. 2. On the infinity system, each large speaker has its own amp. Many times the problem is with the radio. Turning the joy stick around sometimes makes things better.
  3. The A/C buttons pull right off, and if the bezel is not too brittle it should bend a little to slide down, and then off. Be carefull not to mar the leather.
  4. The top changes happened in the mid 1990 model year. I have 1990's with both types of tops. This change happened around the same time the seat changes occurred from the piped to the non-piped style, although I have seen side handled tops with non-ribbed seats and non-side handled with ribbed seats. The side handled tops can fit on the newer models if the clip pegs are removed. This may impact the safety of the top and I have only done it to transport cars.
  5. Your headliner is correct. The bordeaux interiors got the same color headliner - all ginger and black interiors have a tan (not ginger) headliner. I have "new in box" tops from the factory with the tan headliners. Your car has probably not been modified.... Larry
  6. I have a bunch of them in various conditions, both airbag and non-airbag, also NOS *real* trunk keys with the pentatrident on them - not the ugly generic ones. Larry www.TCParts.com 928-386-0999
  7. You need to join the TC America club and read all the articles about this transmission. Bottom line - buy a MOPAR rebuilt unit from your Chrysler dealer along with an updated controller, and the transmission will last a lifetime. This will cost you about $1,500 and 4 hours of your time (maximum). Larry www.TCParts.com
  8. Jeff, In this case, with his high production number he probably has the common block engine also. The only difference would be if it has CA emissions. I only wish I could put all these things on a site like you do. Thanks! Larry
  9. Note that Jeffrey's photos are of a "common block" engine only found on late build vehicles. Your lines will most likely be different. Larry
  10. There are at *least* 3 different versions of vacuum routing on the 1989 TC. A few years ago I brought one of my cars to a mechanic in California who had it for a few months and did not solve the problem. I finally had to match it to one of my salvage cars. See if another club member in your area has a close VIN number and match them up. Make sure you check for CA and 49 state emission stickers. Larry
  11. I have them both new and used. www.TCParts.com Larry
  12. In the TCA newsletter there is a member, Ward Garland wasa@antelecom.net selling a removable clear plastic cup holder that does not remove the cubby, you can use the ash tray and cell phone charger and is removable. He is selling them for about $35. Larry
  13. These were hand built cars with numerous changes over the production period. The first 1400 or so did not have the wood trim. Of my 65 TCs NO two are exactly alike. Larry
  14. I number of people including myself have written articles about the TC ABS system in the TC America newsletters. Check the back issues for information or give me a call. I also sell remanufactured ABS systems for $549 to fellow TC America members. Larry www.TCParts.com (928)386-0999

  16. Chrysler did NOT use this system on any other cars - GM did. It is a good system, pretty easy to diagnose. The TC America newsletters have a lot of information on this system. Larry www.TCparts.com
  17. Myself and others have written a number of articles about the TC ABS system for the TC America club newsletters. I recommend you buy the back issues and read about the system in there to protect yourself from potential price gouging. Larry
  18. I sell complete rebuilt ABS units for $549 to fellow TC America Club members. Larry www.TCParts.com
  19. I wrote the seller and he said he "ended the bidding early to sell to highest bidder" and that she only wants the seats and so he will put it up again. Let's see. Larry
  20. There have been numerous articles about this in the TC America newsletters. Check your back issues and you can determine if it is the mechanical gear or the speed sensor. Larry www.TCParts.com
  21. There were different versions of the engine, including common-block and non common-block. Larry www.TCParts.com
  22. Jeff, I guess your back surgery went well? The oil is normal. If you use a K&N air filter the oil won't be as much of a problem. Larry www.TCParts.com
  23. I also sell new 1989 insulation pads for $150. Larry www.TCParts.com (928)386-0999
