  1. Also look at the spades on the fuse panel where the flasher plugs in and make sure they are not corroded or dirty.
  2. 57 and 58 did have the rebuildable style, but the ones that are sold in stores and online now are crimp. My trouble with these, is that they don't slip into the hole without loosening the engine mount and jacking it up on the passenger side. Otherwise they work just fine. Or you can have your old pump rebuilt. Or you can buy Craig's NOS one. As far as the arm being bent like that, I can't be sure. Pull the old one and compare.
  3. There is one about an hour from here. Skyview Drive-in, Belleville IL. They have several car club events every year and they draw a big crowd.
  4. Looking for a factory carb for a 62 Skylark with the 215 4bbl. The one on my client's car is the wrong year and fuel inlet housing hits the air cleaner.
  5. Getting close to moving back home!
  6. Try to knock off one thing at a time and it will be less overwhelming. Every car I buy has a massive laundry list of crap that needs tending. Most of the stuff on those lists are things that the seller did not disclose, or didn't think they warranted disclosure. Yours is a nice car...just gotta work out the bugs. I am working a deal on a 58 Limited right now, and I will guarantee that it has the same massive list of issues that I hadn't planned on....on top of the stuff I know about. Older owner that had the car for 30+ years and never lifted a finger to fix it. Just drove it. "Yes, I drive it all the time! Been that way the whole time I've owned it!" Uh huh...
  7. Why am I thinking that there is a specific manual (other than the body manual) that goes with the scissor top? EDIT: because there is: https://www.ebay.com/itm/190581475480
  8. Yeah. I think I remember seeing pics of this underneath when the previous owner had it. Sure it tempting for a coupe. Bummer they missed the boat so bad on the door panels.
  9. I'm waiting on the same ones for mine. They estimated January for a ship time.
  10. Everyone says those 71 trunks leak. I've had a handful of 71's and never had an issue with those vents. The trick is to keep the drains clear.
  11. Yes blower runs on low all the time, unless you increase speed with controller.
  12. Big steps today. Only a few remaining items for me to finish.
  13. Thanks guys! Can’t wait to get the hood and trunk lid on.
  14. Oh wow...that is bad. It should fold nicely into the top well nearly flush with the pinch weld moldings. Check to see if the top material is still connected to the #2 bow when top is up. It should be attached some way.
  15. Have you cycled it yet? I would think a guy like Larry would have a good running top on his car....especially seeing how much care he took in detailing it.
  16. That could be the case. I've never had a car with the option, so it didn't look familiar. Does it have a Max Trac switch on the dash or any other fragments of the system? It basically cut out ignition when it sensed traction loss. So it took into account the rate of wheel spin versus what the transmission was putting out at the speedo.
  17. Nice! where is that wire coming from? It doesn’t look familiar
  18. Another item I was sweating bullets about…grafting new sound deadener into the trunk lid cutouts. I didn’t have a choice to save the old stuff, and it was already shredded wheat when it got here. There is still a flap missing in the center where the lid turns down…I missed the boat on measuring how much I needed. Next!
  19. It's been a different guy that picks up the car every time. But they always have either a 1 or 2 car enclosed trailer. I believe it's a network of small private haulers.
  20. I had to get the 71 LeSabre I just sold down to TX a couple weeks ago. I told the buyer to contact Autobahn. Within two hours, the car was on a trailer headed south. Craziness! I love it, though.
