Still no news on tires. I may just order from Summit and wait it out. I installed the factory carb today and got it all dialed in. Lots of weird stuff that I had to tweak, but finally settled in. Until I moved the car to test drive it. I backed it out of the shop and went back in to shut the garage door. There was a massive puddle of trans fluid on the floor. Seems to only want to leak when it's running, and it's coming from the front of the trans. I told myself I would never buy another 58 with a questionable flight pitch....Jim Hughes may be getting a phone call for a spot during the winter. I had grand plans to do a bunch of stuff to the car today, but after several on-and-offs with the carburetor and the Exxon Valdez, I called it quits. The carb had been rebuilt, but stupid me for just installing it without taking it apart to inspect. The floats were set wrong and fuel gushed all over the place on the first shot. Second time I pulled it off, the rear float was set a touch too high and it was perking into the engine. I have a video in the works of that lovely time. I'll try to get it posted tonight...but likely tomorrow. It takes hours to convert and upload.

You get nothing until I get center capsš
-
Looking for a set of decent used center caps for big car rallye wheels. Not looking to buy new...I know they are available. Just need a decent set to stick on a car.

I left a sizeable donation, unfortunately. But we had a good time. Good enough for me to visit in another 10 years...to see what giant colossus has been built since we were there last.

They are building what is selling. Not the worst idea in the world.

Back at it after a minor bout with the ārona. Not everything in Vegas stays in Vegas. all dry blocking is done on doors, fenders, and hood. All hosed down with 2K surfacer. I cleaned up the floor a bit so I could get it dirty again with the body, and drove the car up to the body shop. Iāve already masked off the dash and engine compartment. Tomorrow, Iāll start ripping the old paint off the body shell. of course one image has to load upside down. Youād think forum software would have an edit feature at this point for stuff like that.

Aren't those bowls supposed to have the relief cuts off to the side like that? I don't see any excessive wear on them.

I may end up just getting wide white radials, since the Coker Classic bias plies are on back order until October. Still working on ordering a set of SOMETHING just to get this car more reliable. The date code (at least what I think it is) on the tires is 2003. In other news, we have new exhaust!

Roger thought the same thing I am...I'm not sure how the water pump is set up inside, but could it be possible that the impeller is sheared, or something is amiss inside? Is there a way to plumb an inline electric pump in? I wish I could be there to help out. I'm sure most of us do, as we sit here and read of your situation.

Doors, fenders, and hood are all stripped and hosed down with black epoxy. Slight delay getting the car up to the body shopā¦silver 70 GS conv is in the way and I canāt move it until it goes away for conv top install.

The top mount on 57 is different than 58
-
Kool! Red it is, then.
-
I should know the answer to this question, but I don't. Are red wheels INCORRECT for a 58? I think this car would look good with them. But before I go crazy powdercoating, I wanted to get the right answer. Trying to order a set of Coker Classics. It's unfortunate that this is the only tire with correct dimensions. And the price has cone up significantly in the last several months. $257 each!

Iāve come to the realization that projects like this are not for me. I have zero time for a job of this size that doesnāt pay š¬ With the 58 I bought a couple weeks ago, it will allow me to be able to enjoy the car while I tinker with it. So, that said, I am loosely assembling the big pieces of this car so I can sell it in the near future. While assembling, I realized that there is a pretty significant amount of parts that are missingā¦and Iāll likely have to make some sort of deal for the parts car with the sale of the Roadmaster.

Weather forecast for Concord, NC, not 104...

LOL! I just finished peeling around my neck from the burn I got last week. But I would definitely pay extra for that weather if we could somehow figure out how to make that happen.. -
Fuel line is 5/16. I don't remember off hand if one side of the car is LH lugs or not. Usually the bolts have a large L stamped on the head if so. And the front bolts are longer because of the aluminum drums.
