  1. Actually, I have a NOS *rear* left fender. The question is, does he have a front or rear? I would think a NOS front fender would be very nice to have.
  2. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS...TRK%3AMEWA%3AIT I'm going to say $14,300. All estimates must be in 12 hours before end of auction. Rolf has promised to give all his parts to the winner! (just kidding folks).
  3. Ace - I *think* both sides are the same depth, but not sure. The guy who is making the gloveboxes couldn't remember if the radio is mounted on the driver's side firewall or under the seat in '37. I think this makes the difference. So..... 1. Where have you mounted your radio? 2. Are the gloveboxes the same depth? Thanks for looking -- and if the weather is good, take a ride for me.
  4. Ron Carpenter's is recreating my gloveboxes, and he was asking me whether the driver's side glovebox was short or long. I told him I didn't have mine -- does anyone know for sure? Thanks
  5. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS...p;category=6306 Looks like a good #2- car, one that could be driven and still look great at the shows. I'll be interested to see where it ends up.
  6. I looked at the 2005 consignment list, and the only Zephyrs I saw were an unmolested 40 or 41 coupe, and a fiberglass convertible version of Scrape. So maybe, just maybe, Zephyrs are now considered "oh so 2004" by the streetrodder crowd, and this plague will pass us by.
  7. Yep, Bill, it's the 4th and 5th. If you still have that old '37 fan, let's talk. I'll be bringing up some extra stuff I have as well. See you there.
  8. And the ironic thing is, Phil, the Zephyr taillights look like crap on the Ford IMHO -- take a look at that one ebay auction.
  9. I'll be headed up with the truck, so if you need any *free* '37 or '38 suspension pieces, now's the time to ask...
  10. Ace - What did you ever do about the ring that goes with your taillight? Were you able to find or reproduce one? Looking forward to seeing pics of the Auburn! Maybe once you have it, you'll be able to tell us why the CCCA considers Auburn 8s full classics, but not our ugly old Zephyrs
  11. Ace - Today's streetrods are the equivalent of the '70s leisure suits and shag carpets -- some day we'll all shake our heads and laugh about our TOTAL lack of taste. Of course, by then it will be too late for alot of cars. What really worries me about this is that folks like Ace and me have to be very careful where we park. All it takes is a 1/4 inch twist to steal the taillights off of a '36-7.
  12. If Merv doesn't have one, I have one with one of the lines. I don't think you'd have problems finding / fabricating the other one. BTW, the bracket is welded to the main body, and bolts directly to the head -- no muss, no fuss. I'll be out of town for the holiday, so PM me if Merv doesn't have what you need (but I'm sure he does).
  13. In your area of the country, I'd check with Bob Boos. He's listed under "Sources" and he has alot of the '40 - up stuff.
  14. This one is just too funny: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=34225&item=7937051066&rd=1 I let the "losing" bidder know he could very likely buy this (as well as other issues) *new* for $2 - $4 from the club. Sheesh -- Rolf was right all along!
  15. Hello - I checked, and none of those handles are from a '37 Zephyr. Sorry about that. For some reason, inside handles are pretty hard to come by (not true of the outside door handles).
  16. I'd be interested in what Rolf has to say, but as a general rule if the cylinder walls are pitted *or* the rings have corroded sitting in the block, it's still going to smoke as excessive oil gets by.
  17. This is something that I should be able to do easily but can't: How can I tell by looking whether I have solid or hydraulic lifters in a V12? I have the intake off of a core engine, and can see the lifter bodies, but can't tell which kind it is. Any help would be appreciated.
  18. 9/17 here; 100 years to the day after the battle of Antietam, the bloodiest day of the Civil War.
  19. I wouldn't put this here, except, when referring to those unrestored LZs out there, we better make sure we don't run afoul of the Corvette police! It seems the folks at Bloomington Gold have decided that the word "survivor", by itself, is their sole property and can only be used to refer to unrestored Corvettes that *they* have certified: http://www.bloomingtongold.com/index.php?link=survivor2 If protecting the term was limited to Corvettes, where there could be some misunderstanding, I might say ok. But no, according to them, they control its use for any car (even though Bloomington Gold doesn't deal with Lincolns, Packards, etc). To quote the end of this nutjob article: "A classic Cadillac is not a SURVIVOR®. Only a Corvette certified by Bloomington Gold may be properly and lawfully referred to as a SURVIVOR®." You know, Bloomington Gold, you don't own the English language, and the word "survivor" was around long before your plastic cars. So kiss my big flathead .
  20. Rolf - I've notified the moderators, especially about the Autobhantrader ads that don't belong here, but evidently they haven't had a chance to do anything about it. We are definitely getting some clutter here!
  21. Actually, there is a classifieds section under LZOC.org that is probably better-suited. That way you can post pics, etc, and the ad won't be pushed down as new messages are placed in. That said, neither of the two ads below belong here and hopefully will be removed.
  22. PS Karel - You better load up that '38 coupe and head for the highlands -- You have a good sized storm coming your way! My folks are heading out of Daytona Beach tomorrow.
  23. Karel - I saw this item on ebay a week or so ago, it didn't sell. I'm not familiar with '38s -- could this be what you need? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10076&item=2487518328
  24. Hello Folks - There's a '37 coupe sedan posted in the classifieds, maybe 80 miles from me. As you know, these are rare and interesting cars. If someone is serious about restoring the car and wants me to go out and take a look for them, I'll schedule a trip out to look at it (I want to take pictures to aid in my own restoration, and nothing beats an unrestored car). Let me know via private message.
  25. In an earlier post, George Trickett pointed out that 37 - Feb. 39 factory Columbias used the single long speedo cable, while dealer and aftermarket installations had the speedo adaptor setup. Why the difference? Just from looking at it, I would think the long speedo cable would be problematic. Also, my understanding is that up to a certain date, '37 Zephyrs had a center-exit right side exhaust manifold, requiring a heater setup that looked something like the one pictured at the bottom of this page: http://home.mindspring.com/~bozarth/id4.html Does anyone know when the '37s changed over to the front-exit exhaust manifold, requiring the change to a heater system that looked like this: http://home.mindspring.com/~bozarth/id6.html My car had a scheduled build date of 3/1/37, and I'm trying to determine which was exactly correct.
