  1. I think that for some it is a fun and exciting ride. When I was about 11 years old I got to ride in rumble seat I believe it was a 1938 Ford. I have never forgotten that ride, and that was in 1954.
  2. Thanks for the info Wildcat1562, but the '41 radiator won't work. I have a couple of friends who have '41's and they may be interested in some parts.
  3. The '48 Roadmaster radiator won't work because my radiator filler (cap) is located to the left of center and matches up with a cutout in the sheetmetal over the top of the radiator. I have been told even the '41 won't work because the filler is in the center. I guess I have to find a '40 Roadmaster or Century radiator. Thanks for letting me know about your radiator.
  4. The sad thing is that many nice original and even AACA show winning restored cars are being "rodded" by individuals with more money than taste. These days with reproduction bodys you would think the nice originals would be spared, but this is not the case. Hot Rodders are trying to out do each other with who can destroy the most unusual true classic Packard, Lincoln, or other fine car. I have even seen a customized Packard Darrin and a Continental Mark II!
  5. I am going to check around and see if it's the same. Does anyone know if it is interchangeable?
  6. Speaking of 3 cylinder engines, I have 1974 Suzuki GT750 motorcycle. It has a 750cc 3 cylinder, 2 stroke, water cooled engine. It is a fun & very quick bike.
  7. I have a very nice original '51 Ford woodie that has excellent wood and good original paint. It has always been garaged and babied. I am the second owner and my greatest fear is when I have to sell it will be "rodded".
  8. I completely agree with MCHinson and like only original cars. However you could post this in Buick forum BCA-Perf/Mod Tech where you may find some who can advise you.
  9. Thanks for the info Cliff. I went with a complete '47 Roadmaster engine and it is now in the car completely rebuilt and it runs very good. It now cruises effortlessly at 65 mph or more. I have a problem though it starts overheating at those speeds. I disvcovered that it has the wrong radiator with only a 2" thick core. It should be a 3" thick core. So I am looking for a correct radiator and I will recore it with a modern more efficient core. Please let me know if you have a correct radiator. If anyone wants my original block I will be glad to give it to you for free. Also see my post for 1940 320 cu in parts in the Buick Buy and Sell forum.
  10. I would be willing to offer my 1940 Buick radiator for Special and Supers that has been serviced and has good flow plus cash. Also have a good '54 Buick Special radiator as well as 1940 320 cu. in. engine parts that I will trade for the radiator. See my post 1940 320 engine parts.
  11. Thanks Steve, I have the spark plug cover on the engine that is in my car. I was replying to 25Buick47 that I don't have an extra on to sell. I am not sure if the '49 is the exactly the same but I think it would work. 25Buick47 contact Steve and you could buy his.
  12. I don't have an extra spark plug cover for the 320. I have one for the smaller engine.
  13. I was one of the spectators watching the cars come into the show field at Hershey. I saw your Cadillac as it came into the field. It was very impressive. You did a fantastic job restoring it.
  14. Barry, The Lincoln Limo is a very worthy project. This will make a nice addition to your other rare and beautiful cars (and Trailer). As usual you are approaching this project in a logical way. I am inspired by your work ethic and am going to try to approach my '40 Roadmaster project with increased enthusiasm!
  15. I do have it and I will send you a picture later today. I think the shipping cost will probably be very high though.
  16. I decided to rebuild my 1940 Roadmaster engine and after dissassembly I found it had a cracked block. I found a 1947 Roadmaster engine with a good block and rebuilt it and put it in the car. The original engine ran pretty good but I wanted to have it run excellent. Now I have a lot of good parts from the 1940 engine to sell: head w/rocker arm, crankshaft, 8 pistons with rods, 2 clutch pressure plates, 1 clutch disk, bellhousing, flywheel cover, oil pump, water pump, harmonic balancer, timing case cover and other miscellaneous parts. Will sell reasonably. The block could possibly be repaired, it has a crack on the side where the manifold are near the top. It leaked coolant when it cooled down after driving. (I thought the water pump had a slight leak) Block is free. The head and crankshaft are too heavy to ship and must be picked up. I can ship the other parts.
  17. He could have picked a better location! The car does look nice though.
  18. I am looking for a radiator that fits 1940 Buick model 60 or 70. This radiator has a 3" thick core and is used with big 320 cu. in. motor. I will recore it but upper and lower tanks need to be good. I just had the engine rebuilt in my 1940 Roadmaster and it runs excellent now but gets hot running over 60 mph. I had the radiator in the car cleaned and it is in good shape but it is the incorrect radiator for the car (2" thick core). I need to get the correct radiator so I can drive on the interstates. I am located in Owings Mills, Maryland.
  19. Someone bought it for the buy it now price of $22,500. It seems like it was a good deal. The interior is hideous, it reminds me of the lining of a coffin! I like the car but I could not live with that interior.
  20. Thanks for the good wishes, I'm doing fine! My wife saw the inquiry in the email and just replied for me. I've got to keep her off this forum... heheheh
  21. Nice unrestored original cars are becoming very popular. I think after looking at the pictures your car should not be restored. I only wish my '40 Roadmaster coupe was even close to the condition your car is in. I agree that your car is worth much more than the high bid on Ebay. In my opinion you should keep your car as is.
  22. For the last 7-8 years I have been looking at Buicks by searching for "1940 Buick". After I look at that, I change the search to "Buick". Now that does not work. You have to go to "Ebay Motors", then under "Themes" go to "Collector Cars", then go to "Buick". Then you get the normal 5-7 pages of cars.
  23. I am wondering why there are so few cars listed on Ebay. I look mainly at Buicks for antique cars. There used to be 5-7 pages full of Buicks of all years. Now there is only about 4 or 5 Buicks listed. I checked Cadillac and saw only a few. What has happened to cause this sudden drop off?
