  2. Has the schedule for the 2013 Philly seminar been posted yet? I have been off line a lot due to a MAJOR computer crash.

  8. Don't hold me to this and this is definitely nothing official-but I heard something about a Saturday afternoon picnic instead of a banquet. Could be just of those stories that gets started.

Yes you can in NC but with a few conditions. A law was passed in 1985 that allows you to run the year of manufacturer tag. Th car has to be 35 years of older. You also have to buy a current plate (which can be a historic antique vehicle plate) which you must keep in the car. If you run the year plate, I would suggest that you keep a copy of the statute in the car with you. Many local police are not aware of this provision. My husband and I were pulled one time when we were driving our Model A with a 1930 plate. A patrolman had been following us for quite awhile when he finally pulled us. He had called our plate in and of course there was no information. In NC you are NOT required to register the plate. If you would like to read a copy of the statue, you can go to the Brass-Nickel Touring Region's web page; click on IT'S NC LAW; and then YEAR MANUFACTURE PLATE. Hope that helps. Judy
  10. Well, it pays to be patient. The mailman dropped off a special letter from National today. Any one else get a letter?
  11. The html version of the 2012 Winter Rummage Box has now been posted. The pdf version will be posted soon. Judy
  12. Well - it is that time of year again. Has anyone (either web or print) editor gotten a letter from national yet?
  13. What does the F stand for in the F-series trucks? Does anyone know?
  14. Yes. I would like any Ford trivia you have. I still need a few questions. Thanks again to everyone who has contributed.
  15. This is a hard question to Google. Very few sites give the actual dollar amount offered. All agree that Ford wanted cash. So far, I have found two answers and I am not sure which one is right. 1. Late in 1909 bankers turn down William Durant's request for a loan to buy Ford Motor Company for about $9.5 million. 2. Durant worked out a deal to buy the Ford Motor Company for $2 million in cash, plus an additional $4 Million paid out over three years, at 5-percent interest. Billy pitched the deal to his company’s board of directors on October 26, 1909, and they approved, IF he could get the financing. However, the banks said, “NO!”
  16. Thank you everyone for your trivia input. You provided some excellent questions. I used Google but was looking for that trivia you only find out when you are restoring a car and doing research-those interesting odd and obscure facts. Thanks again
  17. I usually run the Christmas gift exchange for our club. Instead of using names or numbers to draw lots, I use antique car trivia. You do not have to know the answer to go to package pool. What the questions do is fill in the gaps and provide entertainment as well as being educational. It can also be very controversial. This year's trivia topic is Henry Ford, the Model T, or any Ford product. What I would like is your best trivia question about these topics. No question can be too odd or obscure. I need about a dozen more questions. What is your best Ford trivia? Thanks in advance. 24t42
  18. Paul, I am afraid I won't be much help on this subject. I am the editor for the Brass-Nickel Touring Region. We do not use any advertising in our newsletter. This is a personal choice as I think that the use of advertising detracts from the newsletter. For many Regions though advertising is a necessity. It is either allow ads or quit publishing. The Brass-Nickel is a touring region-no car shows. The $10/year dues cover very nicely the cost of the newsletter-with some left over. We print a color newsletter which this year averaged 28 pages (5.5" by 8.5"). These are on-line if you would like to take a look: Brass-Nickel Touring Region newsletters. Judy
  19. I am still here. I will check the condition of the manual and see if it is one that can be easily copied. I will get in touch with you. Judy
  20. The Fall Rummage Box is now on-line. Enjoy! Fall Rummage Box
  21. A friend of mine has sent me this photo and wants to know what make and the year of the car in the picture. This sounded like a job for the photo detectives. Thanks in advance. Judy
  22. In the 70s, a friend of my husband had a bunch of NC plates that had been stapled to a wall. They were being used as wallpaper. They ran from the teens into the 30s. Bob gave my husband a NOS 1918 NC plate. Forty years later, we bought a 1918 Ford Center Door. Guess where the plate is? Most people do it the other way - buy the car and then the plate but not us.
  23. Yes, the whole web site is done in Joomla. When I converted the website three years ago, I had no idea how to proceed, so I bought a template. The one I bought was called Vintage by Joomlashack. I liked the look of the modules - especially the bulletin feature. Judy
