  1. The Fall Rummage Box is now uploaded, html and pdf versions. Judy
  2. Wayne, Just in case - we have a very nice 'Hard Luck' trophy. Of course, the car actually has to be on an official tour route to qualify not in your drive way. See you Sunday. Judy
  3. The 2009 AACA Vintage Tour is next week with the opening reception this Sunday. I have received several calls about the dress code. This Tour is casual and this includes the Banquet. Also, I have had several calls about wearing Vintage clothing. If you have some, I would encourage you to wear it esp. Wednesday night. I have been told there will be a prize for vintage clothing worn by a tour participant. Trust me on this tour, you will not feel out of place. Fuquay-Varina is celebrating its centennial that week and Wednesday night one of the events they are having is costume judging. They asked the residents to go in their attic and wear clothing from a particular decade in Fuquay's history. This should be interesting. Judy Edwards 2009 AACA Vintage Tour Co-Chair
  4. Steve and Pam -congratulations on your 1st Junior. Good luck at Hershey. Although luck will not be needed. It looks to be a beautiful car and restoration. I don't suppose there will be many entries in Class 01A. Judy
  5. Steve, Check out this web page. It gives you instructions on how to use the camera. It even tells you where you can get film and where you can order the instruction manuals. Quite a few are available to download for free on site. Hope this helps. Beginners Guide To Understanding And Using A Brownie Box Camera Did you get the car done in time? We would love to see a pictures. Judy
  6. Glad you liked it. I have made a request to several different VP of Publications for an official Master logo. Since nothing was ever done, I made my own. I should have also posted the Publications master logo I use.
  7. Brian, There isn't an official logo for Master Editor for either Publications or web. I adapted one that I use. Feel free to use it if you want. Judy
  8. Just a reminder that registration closes for the 2009 Vintage Tour on Tuesday, September 1st. There are still a few openings left if you would like to attend. Just email me at brassnickel@gmail.com and let me know that you want to come and that your packet is on the way. We are very close to selling out!
  9. Matt, Cleaned out the mailbox. Boy was a lot of old stuff there going back to 2004. You can also always reach me at the Region mailbox: brassnickel@gmail.com Judy
  10. I have just uploaded the new Summer 2009 Rummage Box. It is also available in pdf format. You have to go the Rummage Box main page located under Publications to access the pdf version. This edition was under the stewardship of the new editor Wayne Burgess. For those of you who don't know Wayne, he is from the Northern Neck Region. Wayne assumed the responsibility of editor on June 15, 2009. Wayne is a repeat Master Editor Winner and received the AACA’s coveted Ann S. Eady Memorial Award in 2004. Wayne is involved in all aspects of the AACA hobby including being an administrator for this AACA Discussion forum. Wayne will undoubtedly bring a new enthusiasm, expertise, and perspective to the job as editor. Please welcome him in his new position. I am sure he is open to any suggestions or ideas that you might have about Rummage Box. Judy
  11. As you know registration for the 2009 AACA Vintage Tour opened Saturday, August 1st. The 1st registrations came in Monday morning. We received 33 registrations the first day. Since then, we have received another 19 making the current total (as of August 5) 52. So, they are still openings if anyone would like to go. You will receive a hard copy confirmation in the mail. In addition, you will be notified via email (if you included your email address on the registration form) from Riley Reiner, asst. Registrar, probably tonight. Dean, the registrar, is currently out of town for a few days. We don't want you to have to wait until then to be notified. Although I haven't seen the list yet, I am sure you made the cut. Please let me know if you don't get an email confirmation in the next day or two. Congratulations - I look forward to touring with you in October! Judy Edwards
  12. I just updated the Hotel information on the Brass-Nickel Touring Region web page (August 2, 2009). I have also included Google Maps to both hotels, which will let you get directions to the hotels. As of July 30th, only 3 rooms were left in the block of rooms at the Host Hotel. However, the auxiliary hotel is the Holiday Inn Express, which is located about .5 mile from the Host Hotel. If you would like to make a reservation at the Holiday Inn, I have included on the web page a direct link to the reservation desk so you make your reservation on-line. If you any questions or problems, you can contact me at the Region mailbox: brassnickel@gmail.com. Judy Edwards 2009 AACA Vintage Tour Co-chairman
  13. Matt, You will probably be OK. A lot of the packets will be coming from the Mid-west and they will take a little longer to get here. Unless, of course, they mailed them overnight. Judy
  14. I would try and get in as soon as you can. We mailed out 103 packets and only advertised 75 slots. Judy
  15. Just a reminder - registration opens today, August 1st, for the 2009 Vintage Tour. Judy Edwards 2009 AACA Vintage Tour Co-chairman
  16. Jay, I just posted the tours that are being offered at the AACA75th meet. Go to the AACA75th web site and click on "Events" on the top menu. There you will find info about the Bardstown, Bluegrass, Churchill Downs, Elizabethtown and French Lick Tours. Judy
  17. Today is July 15th and today we mailed the registration packets out to those who had requested a packet. To all of you who requested the information, thank you. If you would still like to go but have been procrastinating, you still have time. Registration does not open until August 1st. So mail $5 to National ASAP and ask to be included on the Vintage Tour list. Just as soon as we hear from National, a packet will be headed your way. You can check out the places we will be visiting by checking out the Brass-Nickel Touring Region web site. Once again - THANKS!! Judy Edwards 2009 AACA Vintage Tour Co-chair
  18. Today I received the list from National of those members who requested AACA Vintage Tour information packets. So far, we have received 76 requests. The breakdown is as follows: 15-NC 10-FL 8-PA 8-VA 6-AL 5-OH 3-MD 3-NJ 3-NY 3-SC 2-GA 2-LA 2-WV 1-CA 1-CT 1-MA 1-TN 1-TX 1-WI 1-WY I noticed when going over the list, several people who said they were going did not appear on the list. If you are interested in the tour, please send $5 to National right away so that you may be included on the list. We have advertised a 75 car limit. Remember: The packets will be mailed July 15th. Registrations open August 1st and closes September 1st. Please contact me if you have any queations or concerns. Judy Edwards Co-Chair, 2009 AACA Vintage Tour
  19. Thanks to Peter and all his helpers at AACA and beyond. We will be holding our breaths and thinking only good thoughts the next couple of days. We anxiously await the return of the forum - bigger and better than before. Good luck Peter. Judy
  20. Bill, You might want to touch base with Peter. He has set me up two Joomla accounts. I am in the process of converting both the Brass-Nickel and the AACA75th. The Junior site will have to wait awhile. Judy
  21. At Philly, Peter announced that Front Page is no longer being supported by Microsoft. He also suggested that we look at getting and using different software to manage your region web site. It has been 5 months now. I was wondering what everyone decided to do and what software they went with? I went with Joomla and so far have only managed to convert half of the Brass-Nickel web site and am currently working on redoing the AACA75th. I have been struggling but am slowly making progress. I think if I ever figure Joomla out, it will be great to work with. But it is soooo different from Front Page. Note: Brass-Nickel has a new web address. It is Brass-Nickel web site
  22. Barker and I have been working on the routes every weekend. This weekend we chartered a steam train. To see the proposed routes, please visit the Brass-Nickel web site. Please note we are still trying to reduce the mileage. The registration packets will be mailed July 15th; registration opens August 1st; registration deadline is September 1st. Note: The region has new a web address. It is Brass-Nickel Touring Region . Please updates your bookmarks. Thanks. Judy Edwards Co-Chair, AACA Vintage Tour
  23. The Spring 2009 Rummage Box has been uploaded. It is available in both the html and pdf formats. Spring 2009 Rummage Box Enjoy! Judy
  24. Peter is implementing some software changes. This is probably having an impact on load times. I believe the changes should be finished by today.
  25. Just wanted to let you know that the AACA Vintage Tour will appear on the May/June activity request card. <span style="font-weight: bold">Remember - the cut off is now 1931.</span> The Brass-Nickel has been working hard on the tour. I hope to post the tour routes in the next few weeks. We still have a few more details to pin down. I am pleased to report that there has been a lot of interest in the tour. To date, I have gotten about 18 verbal commitments to go. I know about a third of these, will be carrying 4 passengers. Speaking of which, if you are planning on going on the tour and have extra room in your car, please consider sharing a ride with a fellow AACA member. I have received inquiries from several people who would love to go but don't have a car. Consider letting someone tag along for a day. I have found this usually enhances your tour experience. With your tour packet, I will have information on how to sign up for the 'Share a Ride' program. This is a great way to showcase your car and make a new friend.
