A quicker way is to highlight the words that you want to make clickable. Then do CTRL + K. This will open the dialog box where you enter the address. Hope that helps. Judy Edwards

2018 Annual Meeting Master Editor Pictures
24T42 replied to R W Burgess's topic in AACA - Editors & Webmasters
Thanks Wayne for the photos and updates. Who won the Eady this year? Judy -
I got a Gmail account for the club (this is the only one that appears on the web site). I have any emails forwarded to my personal email account. I then forward the email to the correct person. This isn't ideal but in 15 years I have never had a problem.

With the acceptance of electronic newsletters this year, do we need to still mail a hard copy to National? Judy

Have they posted the seminar schedule yet?

Jim, As far as copyright goes, anything printed before 1923 is in public domain. After that it starts to get complicated. A good rule to follow is not to reprint anything published after 1923 with out permission or 95 years have passed. Judy

I received mine today for the Buzzard's Breath Touring Region newsletter, Buzzard Droppings. Congratulations to all. Judy

Well, it that time of year again. No, not Christmas! Has anyone heard anything yet about the Master Editor awards-either print or web? Judy

What program do you use to create your newsletter?
24T42 replied to AnniesSS's topic in AACA - Editors & Webmasters
Annie, Word is basically for writing letters. It is very difficult to publish a newsletter using Word. I would suggest using Publisher, which I have been using since version one came out in 1991. There are many other programs that you can use to publish a newsletter like In Design. However, for ease of use, I recommend Publisher to create your publication and converting to a PDF. The majority of people using a computer already have Adobe Reader installed. No matter what program you use to create your publication and PDF always be sure to embed the fonts you use. If you use a non-standard font and PDF the file (without embedding the font), the file might not look to the recipient at all like you created it. If you use a font that is not installed on their computer, that computer will substitute using a different font. Not all fonts are the same. Some are narrower, and some are fatter. This substitution can cause the text and graphics to change. Judy Edwards -
Earl, I agree. I pinned this thread to the top of the list. Judy

Santa was very good to me this year as the mailman brought me three letters. I received three master awards for: Buzzard Droppings, newsletter of the Buzzard's Breath Touring Region On The Road, Again!, newsletter of the Brass-Nickel Touring Region and one for the Brass-Nickel web site.Congratulations to everyone. Bill, I received a seminar schedule with the President's dinner invitation. I did not see a web seminar listed. Judy

Update: I tried all the fixes listed on the Internet, and nothing worked. It seems that this is a common problem that occurs after an update. There must be a bug in the new version of FileZilla. I fixed the problem by downloading an older version. I am pleased to report that everything is working again-finally. Judy

I believe the saying is, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." Besides you live in Canada, and I am in North Carolina. I am glad you liked it and used it. Judy

Wayne, I do not usually post on the general forum, although I read it every day. I help moderate the Editor's forum. Judy

Wayne, I bought the car out of my Dad's estate. We have a record of ever quart of oil and gas ever put in the car. We also have all the NC registrations. Judy

Wayne, To answer your question-Barker's wedding present to me was a 1924 Ford Model T Roadster. It is the car we dated in. So the 24t42 stands for a 1924 Ford Model T that seats two. Besides that I am somewhat mathematically inclined and love palindromes, which is a phase, or sequence that reads the same backward and forward. For example-madam or 24t42. FYI-the newest old car we own is a 1934 Chevrolet Master Sedan which is all original with 34,000 miles. But that is another story. Judy

Good point John. I was just wondering if there was a minimum number needed to maintain the charter. I didn't find anything in the AACA Policy and Procedure Manual. Hypothetically speaking, suppose you had the 15 members needed to form a region. Due to deaths and people moving, you get down to just one or two members. Would that be enough to substain the charter? Inquiring minds want to know! Judy

I know that to form a Region requires 15 members and 5 for a chapter. However, once the club is formed is there a minimum number required to maintain the charter? Judy

John, FileZilla is a open-source piece of software that aids in the transfer of files. It would be used by web editors and not print editors. Usually with a web page, you upload one file or picture at a time. With FileZilla, you can upload a large amount of files quickly. Judy

I upgraded to the new version of Filezilla. Now I can't log in. Has anyone else had a problem? Judy

24T42 replied to R W Burgess's topic in AACA - Shows and Tours
Wayne, Thanks for the videos-particularly since I couldn't make it this year. Judy Edwards -
Has a tentative list of available seminars for Philly been posed yet? Thanks in advance. Judy
