  7. Way back when, my mother went to an AAMCO in California for a rebuilt transmission for her '59 Buick. They did not give her an estimate as to when the job was to be completed, so, having no idea as to the amount of work a transmission swap entailed, she returned to the AAMCO shop the next afternoon and inquired about her car. The service manager explained to her that it usually took a few days to first obtain the replacement transmission, then to do the exchange. He said the shop would do its best to expedite things, and took her out into the work area where the Buick was already up on a lift. On the floor, next to the car was a dirty, oily piece of equipment she did not recognize. She asked service writer what it was and why it was by her car. The explanation was that that was the replacement transmission and her old one would pulled out the next morning and that one would go in. That was all she needed to hear. She explained, in no uncertain terms, that she wanted and was being charged for a nice, clean newly rebuilt transmission, not a dirty used one obviously brought in from a junk yard! She sat in the office until closing time keeping watch, making sure the mechanics didn't try to install that dirty thing in her Buick. The next morning she was back at opening time with her knitting bag, a thermos of coffee, and a sandwich determined to see that she got what she was promised. Late that afternoon, a truck arrived with a clean, silver colored Buick transmission in a wooden crate, which was placed on a workbench near her car. Through the day she had watched as they had removed the old transmission and prepared for the new one. On the third day, she arrived early again, equipped as the day before, and witnessed the installation of the clean, rebuilt unit and insisted on a test drive with the service writer. When she was satisfied all was well, and all the mechanical gremlins appeared to have disappeared, she wrote them a check, stashed her knitting and drove home. I'm sure the AAMCO folks didn't miss her...

  16. 1937 Cadillac SERIES 75 LIMOUSINE SURVIVOR not mine Located in: Templeton, Massachusetts, United States https://www.ebay.com/itm/134056063152?hash=item1f365d30b0:g:oA8AAOSwUTliNJbo This is just a portion of the seller's description. See ebay listing for vehicle history and more photos. This old Cadillac limousine is truly a survivor with 85 years of mother nature's patina. The paint still shines which is mostly original and has chips and flaking as seen with oxidation and is by no means concourse condition but still a rust free incredible rare survivor. This car was Cadillac's last year in the 30's for the standard 3 speed floor mount shift transmission going to the standard 3 on the column in 1938. The motor is Cadillac's V8 346 C.U 5.3 L and was said to be rebuilt a few years ago and runs great. The chrome is all 100% original. It has delamination in the original 85 year old glass which in my opinion adds great character in a survivor classic car. The sheet metal everywhere is rust free and 100% original 85 years old with no bondo or welding ever. The frame, floor’s, running boards, dual metal spare tire covers are all original to the car. The tires are older with very nice treads but should be replaced for safe driving. Seller information amistadi (3028) 100% Positive feedback

  18. New Kansas law passes, saves restored 1959 Corvette from the crusher. (Continuing story): The thought of crushing a freshly restored 1959 Corvette is heartbreaking. Then, add in that the reason for doing so centers on the condition of two very specific rivets. Luckily for Richard Martinez, Kansas lawmakers have finally come through and passed a law that frees his beloved hardtop from the clutches of the impound lot. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/new-kansas-law-passes-saves-restored-1959-corvette-from-the-crusher/ar-AAVrAPJ?ocid=mailsignout&li=BBnb7Kz
