  1. Yeah kind of, my first car, a white with black vinyl top 1969 mercury cougar. Sold it to a couple of guys doing construction in the Colorado mountains. Don't remember the time frame from when I sold it and got it back but they had run it off the road over a tree stump and left it. Found out they never registered it in their name so the state patrol had it towed to the local impound yard. Contacted me and I went and got it and ended up stripping it and had the remains towed away for scrap
  2. I think it might depend on when the '73 was built. Before or after 1-1-1973. But I'm not a Buick expert by any means. So I would verify with the Buick folks as mentioned earlier. Just my two cents.
  3. Hi Everyone, Received this email today of an liquidation auction going on. Thought someone here might be interested. https://jmillerauctioneers.hibid.com/catalog/523288/culver--or----ford-model-a-and-t-cars--parts--tractors--shop
  4. You are correct. Also has PS/PB/PW/AC/Tilt Swing away steering wheel and Cruise control +Leather interior.
  5. Pretty straightforward on mine. VIN number of my baby. 1969 Mercury Cougar XR7 Convertible.
  6. 1959 Pink Cadillac Convertible my man Clint Eastwood drove in the 1989 movie.
  7. Probably brought in a crain to lift the rear of the car and then back the truck up and lower the car to the ground
  8. Hi there, I know this is NOT directly an Antique Automobile question, and I thought I remember reading recently about someone else have issues. Did eBay & PayPal change their way of doing business recently? I just made a purchase on eBay and used PayPal as the method of payment. I specifically said to use my PayPal Credit account for this purchase and not the bank card I have on file. I just got confirmation of the purchase and see that indeed they (PayPal) used the bank card anyway. It seems to me that something has changed but I can't put my finger on it. Again, Sorry for posting a 'non automobile' question, but I thought others might want to know. I just now removed the bank card from PayPal to prevent this from happening again. Dave

  10. Can't give an opinion either way. Home laptop running Windows 10 using Chrome or Google, Galaxy Android Smart phone, neither one will load this web site. I have protections set fairly high on the laptop and the phone is protected as well, maybe that's the reason? Temporally disabled all protections and still won't load. So I guess if you can see it and use it, consider yourself lucky!
  11. Anyone here belong to the Hagerty Drivers Club? Be ready for a shock. I just received my renewal for next year and was blown away by a $25 increase. It was only $45 last year and is now $70. Wow, no explanation or nothing. Did I miss something or?? Only reason I have the membership is because of the magazine mostly. Some member only events but this might make me rethink renewing.
  12. One thing to clarify from my original post, I believe instead of a mark of VA, it should be an V with an inverted or upside down V. Still investigating the issue.
  13. rocketraider, Thanks much for those links. I have an account for the Garage Journal so I'll look more at that. Briefly read a post tonight on Craftsmen tool markings. Will study further another time. The Alloy Artifacts web site looks like a great site as well with lots of information. Will dive into that more as well. Thanks
  14. Hey Everyone, I don't believe there is a specific "Tool" section, so I'll ask here. I'm in the process of organizing all of my tools so when I start to do some serious work on my car, I can find what I need😁 On my Sears craftsmen open and box end wrenches, I've noticed that some are marked with the size (obviously), A 5digit number, and either a VV,VA or a V. Is there any rhyme or reason behind these letter designations even though they came from the same set when new? These are probably late '70's early '80's wrenches. Seems the larger sizes are marked VA and the smaller sizes change to the VV marking. The single V marking shows up on some of the metric sizes. Not a big deal, just wanted to hear what others think. Thanks
  15. So, an update. I had contacted another Lincoln-Mercury dealer in Midland and got back the following information. The dealer in question, Midland Lincoln-Mercury-Rambler/Village Lincoln Mercury was sold to Rodgers Ford Lincoln in the early 2000's It was owned by Fred Stella. He retired and moved to Scottsdale AZ and passed away in 2010. The dealership is no longer at the location in the telephone ad. Might get further information next week. So, little by little!!
  16. Thanks for all the good advice. I've tried various avenues already, but I'll look into some of your ideas. I don't believe the dealer is around anymore. Maybe, but not at the original location.
  17. Hi Everyone, I think this is a good place to post this. If not, go ahead and move. I would like to inquire and see if anyone out there has any information at all in regards to this Mercury dealership in Texas. I have attached an ad from the 1969 March edition of the telephone book for Midland, TX showing the Mercury dealer in question. I would be very interested in obtaining any advertisements, dealer brochures, license frames, anything really as it pertains to this dealership. My 1969 Mercury Cougar XR7 Convertible was sold from there new in April 1969. Possibly ordered from there as well. I appricate anyone's help. It's the ad for Midland Lincoln-Mercury-Rambler BTW
  18. Thanks for the year. Kinda of what I was thinking. I also thought I posted this in the Pictures section but maybe I was mistaken.
  19. Saw this today in the parking lot of my doctor's office. Don't know about old Plymouths but took a picture anyway. Maybe someone here owns it? Cheers
  20. Hi, curious to know if this forum has a good place to discuss antique pedal cars? Didn't know if the toys section was appropriate or not. Thanks
  21. Assuming that you have a 2dr hardtop, 1973 satellite interchanges only with the satellite and road runner models (for 1973)
  22. Didn't know Dave either, but enjoyed reading his posts on here. My condolences to his family.
  23. This is so COOL! I love hearing these stories and seeing old assembly line photos of the assembly lines. That probably would have been my dream job to have.
  24. 2040parts.com is a scam website. Avoid using them. My understanding is that they pull old/expired/deleted ads from Ebay, craigslist and others just to obtain your information. I believe the site originates from Russia.
  25. I will make my comment now. I used to think car clubs were a great way to meet and be around others who shared interests. I have been a member of quite a few clubs (and still are for a couple) but what I have noticed most is that one thing that all have in common. They all want new members and want ideas for new things to do as a club but do they really? I am NOT some newbie that doesn't know what I'm talking about. Most clubs revolve around a handful of folks and just don't have a desire to hear anything from a new member. It shouldn't matter if you car is running or not or even if you have a car. Your interest in the make should be welcomed and apricated. Like others have said, some clubs are a good fit, others are not, but the fact is, car clubs are not what they used to be.
