  1. Nice survivor/driver, with some work. Hard to find an A under $10k these days.

  3. 1970s - These brick buildings, built sometime between 1914 and 1920, were associated with the Riegel brothers’ auto dealership at the corner of West First Avenue and South Adams Street on the west end of downtown Spokane, WA, an area first dubbed “auto row” because of several dealerships that began and operated there. The Riegel brothers, Dee and Guy, started in auto sales around 1914 and ran one of the oldest Dodge and Plymouth dealerships in the country until Dee Riegel died in 1969 at the age of 82. Present day: These two buildings at the corner of South Adams Street and West First Street were part of Riegel Brothers Dodge-Plymouth from around 1914 through the late 1960s. After the automotive businesses moved out, various businesses have used the property, including Password Incorporated and Spokane Ballet Studio.
  4. How about long-gone accessories: (I'm sure you can think of others) Fender skirts Spot lights Sun visors Bug deflectors Venetian blinds for rear windows Chrome side window rain guards Blue dot tail light add-ons Chrome door handle and gas filler lid scratch guards Clear plastic license frame covers Hula girl and shrunken-head interior "decorations" Curb feelers Port-a-wall fake whitewalls Fox/raccoon tails Necker Knobs (necker knob (plural necker's knobs) (idiomatic, slang, dated) A knob attached to the steering wheel of an automobile, especially before the widespread availability of power steering, helping the driver steer with one arm and leaving the other arm free to provide romantic attention to a companion.) Window mounted swamp coolers Custom tail lights Windshield defroster Defroster gun Lighted cigarette dispenser
  5. I know this is a "custom car", but what year and model? California license plate is 1938. From the looks of the rear end, it might have originally been a sedan, now with the top removed. (not uncommon in SoCal.) Is that a custom bumper or from some production car?How about the light colored car to the right? - unusual headlight pod. The property address is now a parking lot surrounded my modern buildings.
  6. The next exciting meeting is Wednesday, right after the Flat Earth Society get-together.
  7. This car was posted in January, 2022 for $15000 and then again in October, 2022 for $13,000. The price is going in the right direction.
  8. A couple of indications of how automobiles are fading from modern times: San Jose California is the largest city in the country to abolish parking requirements, joining a bevy of other localities that are shifting to less car-oriented development. .Bye-bye parking requirements: San Jose becomes largest city in U.S. to abolish minimum parking https://www.planetizen.com/news/2022/12/120204-san-jose-eliminates-parking-minimums With a population of 1 million people, San Jose is the largest U.S. city to remove parking minimums. “It is an especially big turnaround for a largely suburban community that has historically required businesses and developers to provide more on-site parking than any other major city in the state, according to a Bay Area News Group survey.” Now, new rules will require developers to include bicycle parking—“including one bike for every two lanes at bowling alleys and at least one bicycle spot for every 800 square feet at restaurants.” (Light rail, bus and the soon to come BART subway trains are provided for those who cant find a parking place or don't have a car 😁😁) An additional note: Many real estate listings in San Jose make a point of advertising off-street parking available on the premises in addition to the garage due to the number of cars per family and families per house.vs available on-street parking. Due to the drought and severe water restrictions, many residents have converted their front or back yards into extra parking spaces. Another reason for this is the high rate of crime and theft, and the blatant violation of speed limits in residential areas. Cars parked on the street are regularly destroyed by careless and illegal speeders. (I was born, raised and educated in San Jose and will never return)
  9. Thanks again...that seems to work. I'm getting a little red line under every other word I type!😁😁 The duplication problem has not appeared again. Hope the gremlin has gone away.
  10. Another reason you don't see them is because they are UGLY!

  14. I searched for an old post about decorating antique cars for Christmas, but I couldn't find what I was looking for, so maybe we can start a new series of our cars decked out in Holiday fashion. Parade cars, yard art, anything automotive is good. Here are a couple of examples:
  15. How about an old, wood-handled claw hammer with one claw broken off, if he wants to do some body work. And a small can of dried-out body filler, used sandpaper and a used spray bomb of primer.
  16. I have occasionally (well, maybe more often than that) used the bench-high top of our chest freezer as a handy spot to place tools or parts to my wife's aggrivation and consternation. The last time this happened, the offending accumulation was placed (dumped?) on the floor near the freezer. I have since been warned that things on top of the freezer might just "fall" behind it if she were to open the lid and "forget" to remove them first.
  17. I have just added a post to the "not-mine" section. It completed and appeared on the forum as it should. I have a second posting to add to the same section, but as soon as I post the title, all the text and pictures from my previous post appear in the body of the post. What am I doing wrong? Secondly, other forum members say there is a "spelling check" feature on the forum. However, it has never appeared on any of my posts. (I am not that good of a speller or typist). Is it a feature I can switch on? I am using an ACER Chromebook R-11 Notebook computer over theVerizon network. Your help will be appreciated. Thanks
