  1. New shoes for the 'Cat. After 1500 miles on a set of black walls with standard steel wheels and hubcaps, I spent the morning replacing them with a set of new radial thin line whitewalls and a five (including the spare) styled chrome steel wheels that I collected one by one over the last few years. Greatly improved appearance, IMHO. The car is a one family car, originally delivered to Montana, now with 91k on the clock. Serious engine problems when I purchased it, thanks to the original owner's grandson. Searched for a good 430 for naught. Ended up with a 455 block and all new guts and engine accessories. Had the TH400 rebuilt, and the usual fuel, brake and cooling systems, too. No problem keeping pace with the local tuners. A new top is probably next on the list and it could use a paint job. Actually didn't drive very far today: house to shop and back, but it's all ready for tomorrow.
  2. Looks like a well preserved driver at a reasonable price. I do prefer the original width whitewalls as opposed to the skinny "inch walls" though.
  3. There appears to be two different ladies and two different cars. Clue: the second lady may be wearing the car's hood ornament on her head (not a radiator cap). She might just be a robot due to the push button control panels on her back and leg, similar to those on the charger to the left.
  4. For once I'm glad I'm in my 80's. Got all my ulcers and gray hair back in the 1980's and 90's. Don't need any more. I'll let you whippersnappers with lots of ideas and energy grapple with this one. I'll enjoy my ICE for now and smile in peace. I don't plan to see 2035 or worry about it's aftermath.🤗.
  5. The Ford Motor Company is the automotive tie-in here, with the purchase and restoration financing (over 1 billion dollars) of the Michigan Central Train Station. Ford and GM, both, continue to contribute to the restoration and preservation of the city of Detroit. Then 1913 Then 1988-2018 Now 2024 https://www.cnn.com/2024/06/03/economy/detroit-michigan-central-station/index.html
  6. A serious two-car collision occurred in Chattaroy, WA, allegedly caused by Harold Whitley, 71, racing another vehicle. The crash left Anthony Sandhofer, 78, seriously injured. Both were transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center. Whitley now faces vehicular assault charges. The incident, which took place at least three days ago, has been a topic of heated discussion among the public.
  7. Pierce-Arrow Fleet Housecar (1928): luxury custom RVing as a leisure activity in the US originated in the late 1900s, and, the very first motorhome was built in 1904, while luxury Buffalo, New York-based automaker Pierce-Arrow manufactured the first production motorhome in 1910. In 1928, the firm introduced the Privateer Housecar. By this time, America's first RV club had formed and RVing was becoming ever more popular in the country, though it was still a niche activity largely restricted to the well-off.

  10. A very interesting and rare truck. I'm a truck fan from way back and would jump at the opportunity. Bringing it back even to "driver" quality would be a long and expensive journey unless you can devote the time and resources necessary and have the talent to do so mostly yourself. It may never be a show piece, except maybe for the "Patina Award". '48 to '52 Ford F-! parts should be readily available, repro and used, so that wont stop you. As long as there isn't an abundance of serious rust-through that might overwhelm the project, I'd go for it. The Early Ford V-8 club had a M-H registry a few years back and may have more info. There are also a couple of Facebook groups interested in Ford M-H trucks. Here are some articles you may or may not have seen: https://www.hemmings.com/stories/2018/06/04/hemmings-find-of-the-day-1950-ford-f1-marmon-herrington-ranger https://www.motortrend.com/features/find-of-the-week-1951-ford-f-1-marmon-herrington-ranger/ https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1744399-1951-mercury-marmon-herrington-panel.html https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1545401-ever-seen-a-f1-marmon-herrington-ranger.html Keep us posted as your project progresses.
  11. Recently there seems to be a noticeable increase the popularity and sales listings of a range of '50's and '60's cars equipped with factory six cylinder engines. Brands range from Falcons and Comets, including Valiant and Dart, to full size Plymouths, Dodges, Fords and Chevys, not just the base economy models, but also top of the line Impalas in hardtop and even convertible form. For a long time, these cars were considered parts donors for the restoration of top line cars with bigger, more powerful engines or a platform for a V-8 installation. Is this just a current anomaly or a new and interesting trend? I own and drive a plain Jane "Custom series" '64 Ford 6 cylinder, stick sedan (full size Galaxie body) which attracts as much or more attention than my Buick convertible with a 455" V-8. What are your thoughts/interests/experience concerning these cars? This '64, 2-door sedan body was available throughout the line with a six cylinder engine, Galaxie 500, Custom 300, and Custom.

  17. Craigslist ad says '57 Ford. The front end modifications resemble what George Barris or Joe Bailon created in California in the '60's. Les Dunham got a little later start in New Jersey. His shop was/is a prolific custom body shop. Bailon Barris Dunham All created with splendid taste that pleased every automotive enthusiast.😉

  20. And just how does someone keep a car in this condition for almost 70 years if not in his climate controlled living room with a fence around it and with weekly maid service? Certainly not in a barn.
