Need help identifying this car, there isn't a name on it anywhere
The 55er replied to BLasmanis's topic in What is it?
Was thinking Wagon since there's a glass window in the tailgate with a window winder, also a Ranchero would have a cattle head-like emblem near the top of the tailgate. -

1962 Ford Falcon Wagon with a Packard pelican on the hood. -
1957 Intermittent stalling when at temperature
The 55er replied to lancemb's topic in Buick - Post War
Based on my personal experiences over the years I would give the ignition system a good inspection. Pull the distributor cap, check the rotor, look for loose, frayed, or bare wires inside including the stranded lead wire to the points. If the problem's still there replace the condenser. I've probably been luckier than most but the only vapor lock issues I've ever had were on older inline engines in the extreme summer heat when temps were really hot. -
Not an expert but Buick parts books show that 1951 and 1952 grilles have different part numbers. It's evident that a 1951 grille has 24 vertical teeth and a 1952 only has 19 if you take a close look at pictures of the two years. So, briankazmer's 1952 identification of the catfish car in question is correct.

Yes, partially Packard with 1954 Chevrolet rear bumper guards with halves of the tie bars, but only the builder of this monstrosity knows for sure......

The green Chevrolet in both pictures is a 1949 or a 1950 Fleetline since it is a fastback. The Bel Air was a 2-door hardtop model that came out in 1950.

The dark colored car in the second picture is a 1953 Buick.

Classic Car Deals: Anybody Ever Do Business With Them?
The 55er replied to DrumBob's topic in General Discussion
Best advice on purchasing an antique vehicle, as always, is to make the effort to go and see the car in person and inspect it yourself. Never trust someone else's opinion of it, especially someone you don't know and have never met. -
It's for a 1969 Buick Wildcat.

IMO if the car hasn't been started in many years it's hardly ready for the final restoration touches. Getting that thing driveable (engine, transmission, brakes, fuel system, exhaust, AC, electricals, steering wheel, etc.) could mean many issues to address. Desirable car with too many loose ends. Pics show that the windshield & backlite trim need installed along with the wipers & mirrors. Seller says the car is "all original and complete but there may be some missing pieces." This sounds like a flip to me.

Believe it or not some of those Hershey throw-away piles back then were as large as a small automobile (maybe the size of an Isetta or a VW Beetle). People would pick a while and then move on to the next pile Saturday night as it was getting dark. The stuff the vendors left behind included lots of ignition, brake & suspension parts. Most pickers would grab a few items and move on as it was just too much to go through.

There are quite a few of these Vintage K-D #430 Door Handle Removal Tools available on Ebay right now at very reasonable prices. -

Easiest way to remove them is with a pair of door handle clip pliers. You push the springy part of the escutcheon back toward the door upholstery, insert the pliers down the groove in the door handle and pull the clip out from the top. -
My buddies and I usually take about 500-600 five dollar hubcaps every year to Fall Hershey and spread them out over 2 spaces. Customers come in, look the hubcaps over and ask if we have any Fiestas, Eldorados, Lancers or even Montclairs. When they describe them that way we know exactly what they're looking for and we're both on the same page. Those types are getting pretty rare and are few and far between anymore. Our reply is we don't have any of those in our $5 piles this year. They say "Well, I had to ask!" then we all have a good laugh and they continue down the next aisle on their merry way.

I think it's an aftermarket copy of a 1957 Dodge spinner hubcap, commonly called Lancers.

Might be a 1961 Series 62 lower fender emblem but that's just a guess.

1967 Imperial - $13,500 (Big Bear Lake)
The 55er replied to a topic in "Not Mine" Automobiles For Sale
This same 1967 Imperial Mobile Director's Edition car in Big Bear Lake was advertised on Craigslist back in May 2021 for $21K. The price has dropped considerably over the past 11 months. I don't know how collectible 1967-1968 Imperials are but I think I'd prefer a more practical "regular" Imperial Crown Coupe without the rotating passenger seat and post for the table permanently mounted on the rear floor. I guess this model is considered a rare collector's item but the word cumbersome comes to mind. -
A 1957 Plymouth Savoy.
