  4. A lot of good advice here but I think there are quite a few cars on the road that are way over 10 years old with original lines. I am going to look for other lines on this particular vehicle and replace them all.
  5. This is a pioneer of my city. The car is identified as a Pierce Arrow. I'm not up on the brass era so I'd like confirmation. Thanks!
  6. Just realized there is a separate forum for this question! I'll post it there.
  7. This is a photo of one of the pioneers of my town and the car is identified as a Pierce Arrow. I'm not up on brass era cars so I'd like confirmation. Thanks!
  8. I used to belong to a club called "Inliners" and they had a pretty nice magazine have did a feature on this car. The thing that is really remarkable about it is, it's mostly the work of one guy and it's not a super high dollar build (note the wheels) but it is super high skill and vision!
  9. This got me wondering...based on an article I found in Hemmings, only seven states--Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Washington--have mandates that require ethanol to be blended with the fuel supply. Apparently many more (including California) have requirements related to smog that are easiest for refiners to meet by adding ethanol to the gas. Learning a little more every day (one of the benefits of ignorance!)
  10. Not sure what that picture that looks nice is...maybe just the owner's goal? https://reno.craigslist.org/cto/d/sparks-packard-limo/7553097497.html 1934 packard 1104 limo, new wiring,glass.. runs and drives ...a very nice and unique car to restore or restomod. 11. "custom build" but some were done that way in period. Too bad they didn't keep the original dash. https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/d/fremont-1937-dodge-woodie/7553364047.html This is a custom build Hollywood Woodie. It runs.Wood is in great shape.Let me know if you’re interested. email: 2b763306b22c3904930de42875b2ef6f@sale.craigslist.org
  12. I thought this problem and it's solution would be of interest. The Chevy was running fine but had been siting for a couple of months. It cranked fine but didn't fire at all. I had my wife watch the in line fuel filter and she said saw gas go through it up to the vacuum tank, so I figured "no spark." I checked and I had 6 volts to the coil, and then I took off the distributer cap and turned the engine over by hand. The rotor when around and the points opened and closed like I would expect. I didn't know a good way to check the spark at the plug (my wife won't hold the wire anymore after last time), so I gave up and had it towed to the local old car mechanic. He confirmed that there was actually good spark, so most likely fuel. Turned out that there was short length of rubber hose between the vacuum tank and the carb that had become hard as a rock. It was replaced during the last rebuild which was about 1998. Apparently it wasn't of the type of rubber currently used and the alcohol in all gas here in California attacked it and it plugged itself. Simple fix, once understood. I need to check to make sure that old style hose isn't anywhere else!
  13. You don't see these very often! Not much in common between what he has and what he wants! Very long ad I have edited here... https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/d/santa-ana-1926-pontiac/7552481081.html This 1926 Pontiac is a solid example of an older restoration. The lacquer finished black fenders and olive body show no signs of metal work and are straight and true with the exception of a small dimple in the rear pillar behind the rear driver side window. The Chassis is clean and dry with only minor oil leaks. The wood frame appears solid and the body panels are tight. The radiator has been re-cored at some point with a modern core and shows no visible signs of leaks. The radiator mascot is an aluminum reproduction of the original and is passable but not show quality. The radiator chrome is worn off on the lower sides but the top and front look good. The bumpers are bright and the chrome is good with the exception of a few small rust areas. There is an ignition switch but the key has been replaced with a toggle switch below the dash. The headliner, door panels and rear side panels are upholstered with chocolate wool broad cloth. The seats are upholstered in olive brown mohair. Both are in good condition with the exception of a small hole in the driver lower cushion but both could use some detailing. Rich (949) 292-0920
  14. I have a friend who just bought a similar roadster, older award winning restoration for $17K. That was "a deal" but with "a few chips" as stated, I would think low to mid 20's for this car.
  15. Definitely at the very top end of the current market, but great history. https://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/cto/d/coronado-1931-ford-roadster/7551460496.html My uncle with the same name bought this car new in 1931 from a dealer in Los Angeles. I grew up with this car and always loved it. I bought it from his widow in 1991. In 1997, I had it painted Washington Blue and Black, a standard color for roadsters. It is holding well with a few chips but no rust. It has always been garaged. I completely restored it in 2019 including a rebuilt engine, drive train and much more. It was done by experts in Ramona, CA, at Hansen Ford, recommended by Model A Ford Club of America, San Diego Chapter. All they do is Model A restoration. I have a complete list of what they did if you are interested. I drive it once a week around Coronado. It starts like new and drives the same. Also in 2019, I had new leather upholstery installed with a new top and one new rib all from LeBaron Bonney. So, it is a one family, two person owned car that has been well cared for and could last another 90 years. I am in my mid '80's and unable to care for it properly, so time to downscale. I have photos but unable to get them into this ad. Will email. (619) 762-0929
  16. No doubt still a money pit, but (as we have shown) we aren't always completely rational in our purchases. the current ad: https://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/cto/7551103898.html email: 9a3d21266198329cb713d8c0239eb5d1@sale.craigslist.org

  18. In the '70s I was the oil change kid at a Porsche garage in Santa Barbara. They had one of these, which was the latest thing at the time. When a customer's car was serviced, the last thing is they would do is have them come out in the shop and they'd hook the scope up to set the timing. Many models of Porsche in that vintage required the timing to be set at something like 5800RPM. It was quite a show, but one time the oil filter wasn't properly screwed on. 911s have a dry sump system with the filter mounted on a large reservoir over at the side of the engine. The filter popped off and sprayed the customer with hot oil. Fortunately not MY mistake.
  19. I think it depends on the vintage. My wife's '72 Karmann Ghia convertible was totaled by a falling tree 10 years ago while insured by USAA. My vintage VW friends all had horror stories about insurance losses with their older cars but USAA paid enough to replace it with a very similar car.

  21. Being a '32, shouldn't this be a PB? You are right that this is the pinnacle of pre-war Mopar 4cylinder power!
