  1. Hi All, Another fabulous Autumn day here in Australia. Labour Day holiday here on Monday so I had decided to take the Buick for a coffee run with my wife. We did the coffee run but it was such a great day we decided to go for a drive and ended up following the back roads route to the Hunter Valley, a major wine regions a couple of hours drive north of Sydney and 50 minutes from my home. 130 mile round trip for the day. Cheers Paul
  2. Hi Midman, would you have an air cleaner in good condition for a 1930 model 47? Cheers Paul
  3. Hi All, Seeking more assistance with small details. 1. rear window side blinds. Not sure if it is the same in Fisher bodied '30 Buicks but the rear side window blinds in my Holden bodied Buick have thin cords running from the blind roller at the top, through eyelets screwed into the thin horizontal timber that sits in a pocket sewn into the lower edge of the blind and the blind is presumably at attached 'somewhere' at the bottom to stop the blind flapping about when driving with the window down. I have attached a sketch to help explain what I am talking about. The area highlighted by the question marks is what I am trying figure out. 2. Hand rail. What type of hand rail was attached to the rear of the front sear for use by rear seat passengers? I have seen pictures of '29 Buicks with a metal rail, was this the same for '30s? 3. Rear seat foot rest. Did the rear seats in the small 40s series cars had a fold away metal foot rest. Thanks in advance Paul
  4. Hi All, as the restoration nears completion my Buick drives out on the road under its own power for the first time since 1958. Enjoy...I am! Cheers Paul
  5. Hi Barney, distance is a big problem here in Australia and our membership is not getting any younger. The BCA has a similar issue. We had about 67 cars attend from almost every corner of the country which is not bad considering we only have a population of 26 million. Also, the last time Buick was made here was about 1946, so numbers of surviving cars and the profile of Buicks has faded a lot since the heydays of the 20s to the 40s. In saying that, we had about five 1936 Buicks attend the Victorian Club's 50th anniversary event in 2017 but when I attended the 2018 Denver Nationals there wasn't one. Cheers Paul
  6. HI all, Any idea where these taller gears can be found? Cheers Paul
  7. Hi All, I meant to post this some time ago. I don't usual like to post photos of myself but I just love this photo...it looks especially good in black and white. It was taken in the back streets of the tiny historic gold mining town of Sofala during the Australian Buick Nationals in May 2022. By the way, the dog is not mine but makes for a good look
  8. Just wondering, can the air cleaner be opened to clean it out?
  9. Hi All, I am in the process of re-creating trim panels for my Holden bodies '30 Buick. I am also writing an article about the process as well and wanted to include photos of original Fisher bodied example to contrast with the Holden versions. Grateful for any help. Cheers Paul White
  10. Hi all, Thought I would post a few extra photos from the show and shine focusing on the pre-war attendees Cheers Paul
  11. Hi all, Thought I would finally get around to posting a few photos of the Australian Nationals and post tour which were held over two weeks in May in and around the country town of Dubbo. Approximately 67 Buicks attended with representatives from all states and territories except Northern Territory. Photo One, my 1936 parked next to the most recent restored 1929 Roadster (which also won grand champion). Photo Two, It's not often you find yourself pulling up at lights behind another '36. Photo Three, pre-war Buicks in the historic gold mining town of Hill End. Photo Four, 1930 coupe driving along a country lane in the historic town of Sofala. Photo Five, something I have never seen before and likely never see again, my lovely wife polishing the Buick after a teenager smeared some orange juice on the fender, my heart was warmed when my wife expressed outrage at such a heinous act! hahahaha. Photo Six, the '36 doing a lap of Australia's most famous race track, Mount Panorama, I am driving across the top of the mountain and about to head down into the cloud layer. Photo Seven, a cluster of pre-war Buicks parked outside the historic Manildra "Amusu" picture theatre (Built in 1936). Photo Eight, the '36 in the little town of Eugowra. The event was fantastic with a little over 1200 miles covered, Please enjoy the photos.
  12. Hi All, Progress with the 1930 continues. window rubbers and roofing materials etc were caught up in shipping delays having arrived in mid-May after sitting with a shipping company in L.A. since about last September. Still trying to locate a pair of front shock absorbers if anyone can help! Parts No. 1571A and 1571B Cheers
  13. I can see a set of the shock absorbers on the '30 that I have been looking for....
  14. Let's hope he does and you can put the body back where it truly belongs
  15. Hi Stuart, The feelers have gone out in the Buick News, the Buick Bugle and by word of mouth with no success. My '30 was previously owned by a fellow who suffered from dementia and as a result the parts were scattered throughout a very disordered garage and it took Colin Castle and I about four trips back to the garage to find everything. We found just about everything with the exception of one of the front shocks. I'll have to contact Scott. Cheers Paul
  16. HI all, The restoration of my 1930 Model 47 continues as does the search to purchase a set of front shock absorbers. I would be extremely grateful to hear from anyone who might have a pair and is willing to sell them on Cheers Paul White
  17. Hi all, With the cancelling of many events over the past 6 months of so, I am back with something to report and a few photos of a recent pre-WWII (pre-1939) event in the southern suburbs of Sydney. the event was well attended with a good range of cars, many T and A model Fords of course along with Dodges, Packards, Studebakers, Rolls Royce and of course a few Buicks a 28 Master Coupe, 29, Master Roadster, my 1936 Special and a 1940 Super (that managed to sneak in), it was a beautiful sunny Autumn day (28C/82F) and a great break from all the flooding rains we have had here in New South Wales over the past month or so. I had a 150 mile round trip to attend from my home on the Central Coast, which is located north of Sydney, filling up with petrol before leaving for the equivalent of $5.55 US per gallon for 91 octane. On the return trip I topped up at a whopping $6.44 US per gallon, not sure I can explain why it is more expensive in the country than near the oil distribution terminal in Botany Bay but there you have it. It wasn't an economical trip as you would imagine! Please enjoy the photos. Cheers Paul
  18. Hi John, congrats on your purchase. It is a lovely car that I have had the pleasure of seeing on a number of occasions. I think I even featured in some of the advertising photos when Ray had it up for sale! Do you live in Sydney? The Buick Club of NSW is always interested in having guest vehicles at its monthly meetings (3rd Thursday at 8.00pm) in Five Dock, let me know if you are interested. Cheers Paul
  19. Hi all, Work has been progressing a bit but held up by the delay in parts coming from the US due to the lack of shipping container. My friend has been working on manufacturing those parts you just can't get Cheers Paul
  20. Good evening all, I am planning to put together a photo article for the Buick Club of New South Wales magazine on the topic of historic and modern reproduction of spare tyre covers and would like to seek your permission to use your images. Hugh, i would especially like to include your wonderful plan if I may. Thank you in advance Yours Paul White
  21. another period image with a tire cover similar to that which started this thread
  22. Hi all, Just a couple of photos as we start installing the interior. Other upholstery components went in but my phone ran out of power and I was enjoying myself so much I couldn't drag myself away to go plug it in. I am currently working on sewing up the front seat fabric and pulling my hair out trying to get the fabric to sit correctly for the door pockets despite having the originals to work from, Cheers Paul
