  1. A very accurate and concise history of the Buick 3.8 and all of it's variations and even "nicknames" is at Wikipedia under "Buick 3800".
  2. It's actually a very easy repair. Thorough preparation is important, the "indentation" (hole with bottom) must be mechanically and chemically clean, so the JB Weld will adhere properly. No leftover debris or oil. Use of a mirror and flashlight is a wonderful aid. And- you must have patience- no disturbing for at least 24 hours.
  3. (missing balance shaft, too?)
  4. Hopefully this year- I plan on doing many various projects on my '89. Total system part replacement of the entire non-functioning AC system, and renewal of the heating system components- with small but important upgrades. Various upgrades and improvements to Craft Centre and GM designs. A few of the upgrades include components of the fuel system, instrument/infotainment systems, exhaust system, outside lighting, and the engine lubrication system. A HUGE complaint of mine- has always been the lack of visibility of the rear windshield- especially the High Mount Stop Light in Winter. The addition of extra defroster grids for the rear window- top and bottom, and through the 3rd brake light area are a "must do".
  5. Where I live- personal "Yard Sale", "For Sale", and "Event" signs must be removed immediately after the event/sale has ended.
  6. Yea- repairing vehicles for complete thankless morons that just continued to damage them- and didn't care at all. Sure- I got paid, but money isn't everything. One day came- and I had had enough. Told my Uncle, and changed jobs. Worked at the front desk 1 year. That was even worse. I just don't like GQ Public in general.
  7. Why? Does anyone here read or watch the news anymore? SMH https://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A2KLfScWqldaRUEA9kFDDWVH;_ylc=X1MDMTE5NzgwNDg2NwRfcgMyBGZyAwRncHJpZAMwUzFfVTdLOFRRSzV1aFpIUXJuMWdBBG5fcnNsdAMwBG5fc3VnZwM4BG9yaWdpbgNzZWFyY2gueWFob28uY29tBHBvcwM1BHBxc3RyA21vbnN0ZXIlMjB0cnVja3MlMjByZXMEcHFzdHJsAzE4BHFzdHJsAzQ3BHF1ZXJ5A21vbnN0ZXIlMjB0cnVja3MlMjByZXNjdWUlMjBpbiUyMGhvdXN0b24lMjBuZXdzBHRfc3RtcAMxNTE1Njk0NjQz?p=monster+trucks+rescue+in+houston+news&fr=sfp&fr2=sa-gp-search&iscqry= Sounds like pretty good reasons to me. Maybe it's just me?
  8. In NY going 30mph over a posted limit carries a charge of Reckless Endangerment- 1-3 years in prison, and your license is suspended for 1 year first offense, 3 years each consecutive sentence. If any occupants of the vehicle 17 and under- that's Endangering the Welfare of a Child- a Class A Misdemeanor, for each count, 1 year County Jail, $500 fine. Fines and penalties are also doubled in School and Work Zones.
  9. And others... https://video.search.yahoo.com/search/video?fr=sfp&p=how+to+bleed+air+from+power+steering#id=&vid=&action=close
  10. Here you go. This is where mine was going any way- and a few still think it needs to.
  11. WINNER, WINNER- CHICKEN DINNER !!!
  12. Whew. I think I overheated a few brain cells, and maybe forgot a few things- just trying to take it all in I was correct about a WSS being "like a guitar pickup" except the string is the Exciter wheel. They even provided a neat .gif https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_reluctance
  13. I'm dense sometimes (at least I admit it) I know how a "magneto" (like a lawn mower) works- flywheel has a magnet, it moves by a "pickup" that captures the magnetic field moving by, briefly capacitates it, amplifies it, then dumps the amplified charge to ground- via a spark plug or light bulb. Ok- so how does a simple chunk (tooth) of metal, moving by the pickup (coil of wire around a magnet) induce an AC sine wave? Is it like a guitar pickup?
  14. Leave it in park for this, and the old "burping procedure" is done the same way (after changing a component in the system). The PS system is much like the brakes. Even though the joints won't be loose enough to come apart- I agree with Ronnie about not stressing the joints by putting it in gear. 1.5k RPM, turn lock to lock several times.
  15. Oh, YES, I agree. ATF is a wonderful cleaner. IF the problem is sticking valves- that will work.
  16. OMG 1980-ish... Young Fella brought in a beauty mint '76 Century, to get new tires. I have always disliked whitewalls. Daydreaming that it was my ride- and to try to sway the guy- I mounted all 4 blackwall. He really liked the look, all was cool. Later on- the kid's Father comes in with the SAME CAR, angry that the whitewalls weren't showing... it was HIS car! Rather than tell the guy his 12 year old Nephew did it- my Uncle just quietly changed them around. Because the guy was such a jerk, and my Uncle liked the way it looked- he never yelled at me for it.
  17. For anyone else who's wondering... I looks like a mutated Volkswagen Beetle. Pretty neat.

  19. Yes we have 2 in my area, and they're quite good (not "good for you") LOL (I AM THE EYE)
  20. There's a 1.5 vdc battery inside of the lead? Wouldn't that go flat after 30 years?
  21. Yes, I really enjoyed mine. It was taken away from me, in my own driveway, while on my way to work- nearly killing me, too. A drunk old man "thought he pressed the brake", barreled through an intersection, hitting 2 cars, then mine. I had just gotten back in- after putting the tops in the back. I'm very lucky to be here. Video of my Cousin, GF, and I putting a clutch in it is on my YouTube channel- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qs5j0zyAo5c and rear brakes here- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RV8d85kVa6A I really miss that little gem. I was the 3rd owner, and had it for 11 years.
