Any ideas on how to remove the rust from a water jacket? I was thinking about filling it with water and flushing it.
-
That was the original intent but this car is very original. I’m going to drive it as is until the other one is up and running. I decided that I’m going to do an off frame restoration on the wrecked one and have this one as an original runner. I got the motor to run on one cylinder, but three valves were stuck open and now one valve is broken and very stuck.

This valve is quite stuck. Should I cut it then punch it through?

I was able to remove the valve retaining pin. I also moved the motor back so pressure is taken off the camshaft. I tried hammering it in to break the rust free but that did not work. Now it’s almost flush. I will need two original valves. I accidentally hit another valve and it is bent. On the valve it says DB and has three holes on top for lapping. I don’t want to drill it out. With the valve in the way I can not remove the spring. Prying does not work it only bends the stem. I have been spraying atf and acetone daily

I started out using a piece of wood, but I slowly started using more and more force until I made it worse. As far as rotating the engine backwards, do you think I could just jack up a wheel and turn it backwards in gear? The motor only needs to spin backwards a quarter of an inch just enough to take the pressure off the camshaft.

I tried the screwdriver method. Even tried a pry bar. No luck. I will try cutting the stem.

Hello I am trying to get this 25 sedan running. It appears to be all original. I have a bent and broken valve. The motor became stuck on the valve. I don’t want to damage the camshaft. Any suggestions to remove it?

It might just be easier to get a Parts car

I would need a new fan, Right fender, door handles, at least “new” door hardware, passenger running board. Interior floorboards, toe board. I believe everything else I should be able to repair. I may end up putting on some other doors in the meantime while I can get mine repaired and painted. I’m sure the window regulators may be messed up. Fortunately the headlights and Cowl lights are undamaged. I will most likely need lots of hammers and dollies to repair the dents. I may find some spare doors to throw on until I can get around to repairing mine.

I believe you’re correct I never said rebuilding would be easy. I pour my own Babbitt. I use my own mixture of antimony and lead. I’m trying to outfit my barn as a period correct machine shop and mechanic shop. I work at a restoration shop and I repair other peoples cars on the side. All prewar cars. Mainly brass.

I need to begin to tear it down before I know exactly what I need. I will need a new door and fender to start.

Hello I am looking for a spare engine for my 1935 Ford. I drive this vehicle often and I am going to wear out the engine. I’m looking for a spare engine that I can rebuild now. That way when the engine I have wears out I can just swap it and be on my way.

In a few weeks I will begin to work on the car. I am in the process of moving now. When I get to my new home I will have a barn and plenty of room to work on it. I am trying to get it ready for the Penn Yan Dodge Brothers tour I plan to drive it under its own power there and back. It’s about a two hour car ride in modern iron.

Hello I’m looking for a pre-16 Ford project. I’m looking for a vehicle that is in rough shape that I can acquire cheaply and restore to tour. i’m located about an hour away from Syracuse NY.

At my school I have access to a frame straightener

I am going to look at a house next week with a barn. It will be the perfect place for an off frame restoration.

Hello I just purchased a 1935 ford Tudor. I need some parts. To start the steering wheel is from a 36 and the horn button is missing. I need a drivers side visor. The radio does not work. I am not sure how to test the radio. The headlights are 6v but are extremely dim.
