  1. Extremely likely. I have disconnected the spark lever and I can move the distributor more. It likes maximum counter clockwise on the dist. I’m going to try using a known good carb. I didn’t touch it. I should assume it needs cleaning. It only start with wide open throttle.
  2. I have got the motor to run an entire bowl of fuel. It is starting to get hot. Slowly the rpms are picking up. I got it to run for a moment without the stater. I’m getting close.
  3. I got the head back on and tried the first start. It seemed to only run off the starter at the maximum retard. The compression is 55 to 60.
  4. The dimensions of the battery box are 14” X 8”.
  5. This may be the solution. A new battery that looks old.
  6. A battery like that would be perfect whether it worked or not it is a nice showpiece.
  7. I’m looking for 6 of these or an exide battery that’s period correct.
  8. I need to finish lapping the valves then I’ll adjust them. From there I’ll put the head on and start it. I’ll go from there.
  9. Getting her running as is. Bringing her to the AACA eastern national meet in July for HPOF judging.
  10. I am going to repaint my 26 dodge blue. The 25 will remain as is.
  11. I only use period correct manuals tools and methods. CNN did not come out until 1980 so I have never used them.
  12. No. I’m only going to hone the top part a little bit. The engine was seized. I want to get rid of the marks from the rings.
  13. Correct. I used a machine to trim the bottom of the stem.
  14. The motor was seized. I plan to lightly hone the cylinder walls. With the piston at BDC
  15. I always add marvel mystery oil to the fuel at every fill up. I’ve been doing it since 2015.
  16. I plan to hone the cylinders. Then wash them with atf. At the time I ground the seat I covered the cylinders with a rag. I just set it up for a photo op.
  17. That’s exactly what I am doing. I’m doing a valve job while the head is off. I cut the bad seat and lapped that valve. I then removed the pin on the other valves so I can lap them in place.
  18. After cutting the seat I lapped the valve in. I had to shave the stem.
  19. I’m planning to repaint my db once it’s back together. I don’t know what paint was used. It could have been nitrocellulose lacquer but I think it’s too new for that paint. I think in 25 it was some sort of single stage acrylic enamel. If anyone knows what was done at the factory please let me know. I plan to use Dodge Brothers Blue 2.
  20. When I can I go to the airport and fill up with 100ll. That stuff keeps fresh for at least two years. It also has some lead. My 35 ford uses 150 gallons per month. Driving 1k. It’s also a v8 and there are many hills. I run the lowest octane of non ethanol gas. Often 90 or 91. I always add marvel mystery oil to the fuel. I sometimes get vapor lock on hot days. I will try to add some kerosene and see if anything changes. The local gas station has kerosene at the pump. I have heard that diesel does not react well with yellow metals I.e. brass. I filled up with regular ethanol once and the carb began to leak. I only use non ethanol/ E0 gas. In my opinion E0 keeps a little longer than E10. My small motors like E0.
