  1. I did some research on the Meteor Motor Car Company of Piqua Ohio. They are known for making ambulances and hearses on Cadillac and Lasalle commercial chassis. In their catalogs they stated the wood joints in Meteor bodies were "glued and screwed".
  2. So this event is a driving tour and not a judged show?
  3. I heard there is going to be a hup club meet in Lexington Kentucky June 11 - June 16 at the Clarion North. What day and time is the actual show where the most cars will be on display? I live nearby and would like to see the cars.
  4. Remember the general public does not pay attention to cars like we do. The styling of trucks does not change as much as cars. Full size trucks are still the same basic shape now as 50 years ago when yours was new. Also old trucks are not nearly as unusual on the road as old cars. Trucks are work vehicles and stay on the road longer than cars. Truck owners tolerate wear and age in their vehicle more than car owners. I also think it is a lot more common to see restored 20-50 year old trucks still in use than cars.
  5. Ternstedt was purchased by Fisher Body in 1920 and then was part of General Motors after GM purchased Fisher body in 1926.
  6. Thank you! very nice. I did not know the later Town and Country had a stainless trim around the panel.
  7. I thought Saab Sonett too but it is not. The back is different and Sonetts do not have the air scoop on the side.
  8. I don't have an answer but I am curious as to what it is so I am bringing this to the top. The "Lost and Found" column in Hemmings Classic Car magazine often features fiberglass bodied cars of unknown origin.
  9. I have seen pictures of a custom bodied 1941 Cadillac fastback woodie made for 1940's western movie star Charles Starrett. There were two stories about a replica of that car in the Woodie Times this past year. That replica is for sale in the classifieds of the Cadillac and Lasalle Club Self Starter magazine May issue for $460,000. The woodie times story said the original still exists but said very little about it.
  10. The cover story of the current (June 2023) issue of Hemmings Classic Car is about the restoration of a 1930 L 29 Brougham. To be continued next month.
  11. I did not know "Captain Billy's Whiz Bang" magazine was a real thing. It is mentioned in the Broadway musical "The Music Man". The character of Harold Hill mentions it in the song "Trouble in River City".
  12. Stanley Black and Decker had plans to start making Craftsman wrenches in USA again. They actually built a new plant in Texas. It was announced a few weeks ago plans have changed and they will NOT begin production in Texas in addition to closing/ consolidating some other american factories. This is according to the "Den of Tools" Youtube channel. I have also purchased Craftsman ratchet rebuild kits form Ebay for my American made ratchets.
  13. I'm glad you found my response. Do you have a 1940 Lasalle? Do you have a pair of these NOS bumper guards?
  14. Thank you for measuring. Now I am sure that the tall ones go on the front and the short ones go on the back on my car. You have a short one. The tall ones are 11".
  15. I responded to your other post. Can you please measure how tall this part is and respond?
  16. According to the Cadillac Master Parts List 1935-1949 that part is the rear bumper guard for 1940 Lasalle 50 series sedan 5019 and 5011, and convertible sedan 5029. It is also the rear bumper guard for the 1940 Lasalle series 50 commercial chassis after engine number 2327588. Can you respond with a measurement of how tall this part is. I have a 1940 Lasalle. Some '40 50 series Lasalles have two different bumper guards, short and tall. This could tell me which goes on the front and which on the back. Thank you
  17. Hand Clinchers Rivet Tool | Hanson Rivet I made a link to a tool to reproduce the factory rivet style. Pop rivets sound like a good idea too. Thanks for the reply from someone who has done it before.
  18. Has anyone changed the shaft on a prewar GM window crank mechanism? The shaft the chrome window crank handle attaches to. My car was missing some regulators. I found identical replacements except for the length of the shafts. I have others that have the right size shafts. I want to do a transplant. It is held on with three rivets that could be drilled out. Is there a tool available to replace the rivets?
  19. The 1939 Cadillac is a 75 series.
  20. Keiser, what is a $+& ? Sounds like you don't like whatever car that is.
  21. Also look at the differences in the radiator between the red 32 in the picture and the OP picture.
  22. To expand on the response of the previous poster, Eastwood sells a spray can of "stamped steel" color for non cast iron steel parts. Seymour might have this color also. I have seen high heat versions of cast iron color also for exhaust manifolds. Sometimes I use a spray can clear coat on parts that came from the factory bare steel.
  23. 1931 Cadillac 5 passenger coupe.
