  1. Looking good Roger! Your moving faster than I am on my real car. Do you have to take it all apart to do all the final painting of the parts?
  2. It looks a lot better in your hand than a photo. The comany that did it is M&M powder coating in Huachuca City AZ. 877-727-1148.
  3. Not yet. I give them a lot of work so I get a good price. They also are heavy in the automotive restoration field. If you PM me your information on size and a picture I can find out how much it will cost.
  4. I was at the powder coaters today picking some items for one of my customers and they had the two trim pieces done for my dash. Looks great. I will be getting my center grill section done next. Is it like show chrome? No, but for what your paying it's a good alternative. The name of it is X-Chrome from IMS.
  5. Found this nice little project. Ran when parked. https://tucson.craigslist.org/cto/4955647614.html
  6. Cool video! I bet those burgers tasted better back then compaired to what the serve now a days. Looks like a fun time.
  7. I would like to add my two pennies if you don't mind. First I would get a mic or calipers and measure a nice round area on the male rod end so you will have a good round measurement. Then drill the hole bigger on the arm piece and press in a bushing making sure that the inside diameter is going to be at least .002/.003 bigger than the male rod end measurement. Then I would build up the worn area on the male rod end with weld, but not past the cotter pin holes or cover up the good round area you measured. Then clamp it down on a mill table. Use a coaxil indicator on the good round area to get a true center, then use a adjustable boaring head to turn it to the original size. Then it will be truely round and will fit the arm bushing nicely.
  8. Thanks sebastien buick. Haven't had much time to work on the car for a while now. I've been pretty busy with the business. I bought some power steering hoses that will be needed for later on. I'm going to take the two dash trim pieces to the powder coater to get them powder coated along witht the front bumper brackets. They will use their big sandblaster to clean them up so I can give them a nice coat of paint. Nothing really exciting. Other than that just working away and hoping to get back on the car soon.
  9. I have a powder coater that I use for all my iron work and they have one product called X chrome. They showed me the chip of it and it has a really nice look to it. They just got in two new samples of more chrome powders today. The newest one is made by the same company and its called extreme chrome. They're going to get a piece of aluminum trim and put all three chromes on it so people can see the difference. I'm going to have the two lower dash trim pieces done with it. If it turns out really good then I will powder the front grill center section. I will post pictures off the progress.
  10. That's that Arizona "patina" that everyone likes. Just clear it and your done. I have my project that's keeping me tied up, but may be a contender for some one else. One mans junk is ones mans treasures.
  11. Just wanted to throw this out there. Came across it while trolling the CL. Looks to be a neat project. https://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/cto/4931805847.html
  12. Thanks Dan. Seems like it's been forever to get it back together. exbcmc, The card is an autolite 2100. The dash pot I found on Ebay. I saw some at Mikes carbuerator parts ( I think that was the name) on Google. I was looking for the carb gaskets and came across them and they had all kinds of parts. Try them?? There should be a gasket in between the heat riser and exhaust manifold and one between the heat riser and exhaust pipe.
  13. Well it's been a while since I posted. Been busy with the metal business so haven't had much car time. I did manage today to get the lifters installed, the intake manifold and some other misc. parts. I had to put the valve covers and air cleaner on the see how it looks. Still need to get the rocker arms, shafts, water pump, balancer, and other gaskets. I made a lifting bar so me and the misses could get that big old heavy manifold back on. To hard for one person. I also have been working on the under side of the pan and that is looking pretty good. Found a little rust spot that will need a patch, but easy enough to do. Hope to get the transmission looked at and serviced here shortly.
  14. Hey Paul, I feel your pain. I just got to order my lifters and push rods for my engine. I haven't really done much on my project lately either. Just don't give up, that's when people start second guessing what they got into and start to loose intrest in the project since it's not moving fast enough. Then it's goes up for sale. Just hang in there and do what you can when you can. Just working small parts here in there may not seem like a big milestone, but it's still progress in getting closer to finishing the car. Chin up. You will get there.
  15. Try Sutherlands. I know they have garage kits and are priced well. I think they have a company in Texas too. Worth a check. Just my 2 pennies.
  16. I was looking at a 1949 Pontiac with a silver streak 8 engine. Just wanted to get some information on the engine. Are they reliable? Parts still available? stuff like that. Thanks in advance.
  17. Now dat's funny right dere. Get r done!!
  18. The car is a 1961 Mercury with a 352 engine. I guess I should have been more specific.
  19. Once again I'm requesting some knowledge from my fellow car guys (and gals). I wanted to know what is a good break in oil with a high zinc level so when I get ready to fire up the engine I don't wipe out the cam lobes and flat tappet liffters. Thanks
  20. Interesting on the head gasket leak issue. I installed head gaskets and tighten them down per the cars maintenance manual. I guess I will have to see what happens when I get running. When I pulled off the exhaust manifolds there were no gaskets, but no exhaust leaks either. Is the poping out of park common on the three speed automatics or the two? Mine has a two speed. Basicly it is a full size Ford platform, just a different body. I did check all the parts on the steering column and the detent plate didn't look worn and functioned very well. Thanks for the info. I guess I will have to do some research on these issues.
  21. Thanks for the link. It's pretty neat to see what the differences are from the US version and Canadian. Well I hate to say it, but it's been in the high 70's and working on the underside of the pan scrapping away. Looking pretty good. Still have to order the lifters and pushrods yet. I got sidelined and had to purchase a few very hard to find NOS trim pieces before they got bought up. So now that I have them I can look at purchasing the engine parts again. Other than that nothing really exciting.
  22. If it does have feelings it's more like "What the heck you doing? You got me torn apart and all over the place"
  23. Here is something European that I bet you can get pretty reasonable since there isn't too much rust. https://tucson.craigslist.org/cto/4881370657.html
  24. Thanks fellas. I just try to do my best and hope for good results. Speaking of results here is what the rebuilt steering cylinder looks like. It's now ready to go to the completed pile with the rest of the parts so far. I also media blasted the battery tray yesterday and put a fresh coat of POR15 on it to help with any rust issues. I was able to top coat it with the same Rust oleum professional paint I used on the core support.
