  1. Nice progress Chris. It's going to look nice when you put the finish on.
  2. Good tip Keiser. I do have one. I'm wanting to do a video of it too. The Mrs. will have to film it while I'm dealing with the engine.
  3. I'm still here Steve. Been busy with work and life. I'm sure a lot of us know how that goes. As far as the Old Merc. I received the break in oil and it's in the engine. All I have to do is mount and fill the radiator, install the rocker arm rails and torque them down. Then I will be ready to run the engine. What should I add to the gas when I get ready to run it? It's going to be ran off a 5 gal jug at first. I'm going to order a new fuel tank tonight. I also have to locate a NOS slip yoke for the transmission side. I will post it in the buy and sell section with the casting number. It's been a hard one to locate. Once I get that then I will have a drive shaft company assemble and balance it to make sure there are no issues. I also removed the front windshield so I can clean up the seal area and make sure that there is no rust issues.
  4. Interesting that this post came up today. I was actually working on my Promo car model. My wife purchased the Monterey Promo car off of Ebay about a year ago and I decided to change it up to look like the Meteor that I have. I matched the color and painted the interior the same as my car. Had to re work the body trim and do a few other changes, but came out pretty good. It's not even close to the degree of Roger's models, but to put on a shelf to collect dust it should be just fine.
  5. If you look at the first shot of the video before you play it, it looks like the street is wet. You can see a reflection by the front tire on the ground. If the tires are wet going up an aluminum ramp, plus adding some juice to it. That makes for a bad situation. Not enough traction. The tires will spin real easy and it would slide like it's on ice.
  6. Here is the actual ad. Thanks for all the input om it. THE FORMULA POWER FUEL CATALYST This will allow any engine designed to run on leaded petrol to run safely on normal pump unleaded 95 octane fuel. The fuel catalyst has the desired effect of raising the octane lubricating the engine and burning at a slightly lower burn temperature. There is no need to use a liquid additive or to retard the ignition timing or to fit hardened valve seats The fuel catalyst is a tin amalgam and follows very closely to the original Royal Air Force receipe which was developed to combat poor quality and low octane fuel. This product is not unique to us, there are a few companies producing a similar product but we hope you will be impressed with our honesty about this product. It simply is placed into the petrol tank of any car or motor cycle and then only 95 unleaded fuel needs to be used. Lead was put into petrol in 1936 to stop the KNOCK this product was developed in 1941 for the Royal Air Force. HOW LONG DOES IT LAST? Some companies claim unbelievable mileage but you cannot claim this as cars and motor cycles differ in the amount of fuel they consume. We therefore state that our product will be good for 100,000 miles. We give a 6000 mile test period, a full refund if you are not satisfied and a £1,000,000 product liability insurance underwritten at Lloyds. ONE FINAL POINT IF YOU LEAVE YOUR CAR OR MOTOR CYCLE FOR MONTHS ON END WITHOUT USING IT THE FORMULA POWER FUEL CATALYST WILL KEEP THE FUEL FRESH AND STOP IT BECOMING STALE. MADE IN BRITAIN MADE IN BRITAIN MADE IN BRITAIN
  7. As I was trolling thru Ebay and I came across these lead spears that are suppose to go inside your fuel tank and allow your older car to run on pump gas and provide enough lead to make it perform the way the car did when it ran on leaded fuel. They come from the UK. Has anyone ever tried these? Do they work?
  8. Starting to get there Chris. It's going to be a nice when It's done.
  9. I ordered my exhaust pipes today from Waldon. Now I have 8 weeks to get the engine running and the transmission bolted up and get it all into the car. I got to get moving on it now.
  10. The UPS man brought my special package today. The radiator looks great. Sam at Salinas Radiator came thru again. Their work is top notch and the prices are great compared to what I was quoted locally. I have included their contact info below. Salinas Radiator 231 E Market St Salinas Ca. 93901 831-424-5647
  11. Got the call today. The radiator is done and boxed and ready to ship out. Woooooo Hooooo!! Now I have to get moving on the run stand. I still have to mount a switch and other parts. I will be calling Waldon on the exhaust system.
  12. I took the time this morning to go get the transmission. It's about 50 miles one way. They changed out the first gear band and replaced all the seals and gaskets, new filter and slip yoke sleeve. They said everything else looked really good. I got it masked off later today and added some cast paint. Sure looks pretty.
  13. Haven't done much to the car. I did call to get an update on the transmission. It's all done. Hopefully I can get a break from the work schedule and the weather to get down to the shop and pick it up. One big piece off the list. Just need the radiator back so I can get the engine ready to fire. I did manage to get the power steering cylinder put on last week. I can't bolt it up to the pit man arm until I get the engine back in to put some weight on the front end. Getting closer.
  14. Dale. It looks like you have leaf spring mounting points on each corner. When I painted my frame i put a steel rod thru the holes and supported the rod with jack stands. I also used the Rust Oleum Professional grade gloss black paint from Home Depot. A gallon will set you back about $30-$40. It's oil base and flashed out to a nice semi-gloss finish when it dried. Hope this gives you an option.
  15. With all the effort and time you're putting into the frame it will look great when you finally paint it. Good job Dale.
  16. I was on Amazon looking at WD40 in the gallon can since I use it a lot and noticed that they offer numerous "specialty" sprays. Even one designed for rusted bolts and stuff. Don't know if this is something new or if they have had these products out for awhile. Has anyone tried them? Do they work? Or......maybe I just have been living under a rock.
  17. Looking good Chris. Won't be much longer and you will be putting it all back together.
  18. I've always liked that body style. Good luck on your project.
  19. Today I received a call from the transmission shop. They said it looked really good inside and the clutch packs are in good shape. He is going to replace all the rubber seals and the tail shaft bushing. That's good news to hear. Saves the funds for the exhaust system.
  20. Thanks Paul. The radiator was shipped out today and I hope to get the transmission back around the first week of January. Making progress again, even if it's slow.
  21. While I was waiting on some customers to come and pick up their last minute Christmas gifts on Friday I decided to work on the muffler brackets. Got them all finished. Just have to make the large rivets and get some rubber strap material for them to finish them up. I will have to wait until I get the pipes all installed so I know how far they need to hang down for the mufflers.
  22. Today was the last day of work until after Xmas. Now I get to have some me time for a few days. Today I ran the Plasma machine and cut out the blanks for the right and left muffler brackets. I have to get them all bent up like the original one and they will be ready for when I get the exhaust system here. Other than that not to much going on with the car. I did receive some wire harness clips for the fire wall. Hope everyone has a safe and Happy Holidays.
  23. Hello everyone. I thought I would post this ad from the local CL. This guy has been trying to sell these frames and misc parts for a long time. Might be a good investment for someone in need of one or for a speedster project. https://tucson.craigslist.org/cto/5876323459.html
