  1. What does "No warning points" under my Avatar mean??
  2. I take it back, so sorry, my previous posts have now appeared, no compehenday !!
  3. I've tried to post comment twice recently and the haven't appeared, this a test post 3rd time lucky,R
  4. With every transaction there is an element of risk, in my 3 years of buying car bits off eBay only one item has gone missing and that was a local Aussie purchase. I do get peeved though when an International seller of a rare vintage car part that I need so desperately wont deliver to Down Under. The States is a relatively plentiful? source of American vintage iron and it frustrates me immensely when I have no chance of finding the part here in Oz. Overall though I've done pretty well finding parts thanks to eBay and in doing so I have developed some great friendships with many a Yankee seller. My wife and I have been to the US of A a "cupla" times and cant wait to get back. Any of you guys been here?
  5. I see new comment about eBay adding import charges to sellers (and buyers) shipping costs especially by eBays Global Shipping Program. In the last two years buying stuff for my 1939 Chrysler I have never been charged import/customs duty"s by any Australian Govt or Customs Authorities So why does eBay add import duties when they don't exist.?? I also notice an increasing trend of sellers not wanting to send items Internationally because of 'Yankee" Customs, eBay and USPS Intl Shipping paper work, all mind boggling bull's twaddle. Beats me, but thankfully I still have the opportunity to fill my Chrysler spare parts bin even if the paper work and shipping costs me more than the item itself. I have got around the measly sellers who wont help out an overseas buyer seeking rare parts by having a number of new State wide friends take delivery for me and then trans ship to me. Thanks to Bill, Ted and Dave, you know who you are, Luv's ya all!!
  6. Thanks Bulldog, Tis nice to get a comforting message,R
  7. Hey Friends, Re my other posts re 6.00/6.50x16 modern equivalents I have just discovered this really useful Tire Chart Calculator, really good,Try www.cartiresizes.com and search options. R
  8. Thanks Jon37, Coincidentally only today I was told by a tyre guy that 205r16's have the same 28" OD as 6.00 16's. Original 600 16 tyres are only about 6" wide over sidewalls ( tread about 4.5" wide) whilst a 205 tyre is about 8" over the sidewalls. I wonder about clearance !! I am considering 195 x 75 x 16 which is about 1/2" smaller in Dia but a saving on width. Other question is that they will probably need tubes as the '39 Chrysler wheels have riveted centres which I guess wouldn't be air tight.........so many if's and buts' and worry's !!!!!!! Is there a solution ???
  9. Thanks your posts, I have now discovered there is a 6.50R 16 available in a Light Truck Tyre, and a 185 75 16 is close in overall dimensions too. Previous owner had fitted 15" Ford rims with a "Baggier" ?? 15" Radials, but I want to go back to the original sixteens without spending a fortune on new 16" tires.
  10. G'Day All, Whilst searching for alternative radial tyre replacements for my 39 Royal 600 x 16 Crossply's I discovered there is now available several Asian brands of budget 700R x 16 (Some 12 ply) Light truck tyres. Has anybody tried these, whilst not a direct size match they seem a bargain compared to Cokers etc,
  11. Since last post I have heard from the friendly Chrysler Historical people who have advised they amazingly do have records of my Aussie imported (or exported) car for a $25 dollar fee paid by Cheque (Check) or Money order. One problem in paying this way is that my Cheque or Money order will be in Aussie dollars how do I get around this, the exchange rate changes daily !! They need to modernise (ize) and have a Credit Card or Pay PaL facility which will adjust payment to Yankee Dollars. That aside, I am keenly looking forward to the valuable and cherished information in the near future. Question.. Can some one kindly explain what a USA car ownership/Title is, I often see American car adverts stressing that their car comes with or without correct "Title" documents ?? We don't have that system here. Thanks
  12. Looks like buy the modernl tyres and add whitewall flappers, cheaper to replace than the whole, Ok then !!.... .Spelled Tire.
  13. Yes it does have a TJR badge and a Govt Taxi compliant badge, interesting your theory about RHD conversion in 1939. The car's early serial number denotes US manufacture not Canadian. My car does differ in many small ways to Yankee built cars. For instance the interior sun visors are different, the door operating and window hardware uses splined handle fitments rather than the American 3/8 square shaft and pin style and the front bumper is different. I put this down to maybe local content laws of the era. My spare wheel in the boot/trunk is located on the LHD (our curb side) yet I think the USA cars have their spare on the RHD side ??would that be correct ?
  14. Has any body tried the white wall "Flappers" ....Good or Bad ??..... What are your thoughts? R.
  15. Country traveler.?....... at your suggestion I googled Chrysler OD and a screen full of info came up but nothing immediately specific on 1939 OD transmissions operation/details etc. Can you be more specific to narrow down the search, TKs rich
  16. I Note you have had over 70 reviews but no one has had the courtesy to reply or make comment, you must feel rejected. Happened to me and others I'm sure. Well I'm just posting to say G"day. Rich
  17. I noticed same problem, used to get email alerts to any replys/discussion, now nothing, this feature is sadly missed
  18. Thanks, Please point me in the direction of the Chrysler Historical people, I would love to know more, Rich
  19. That should be "Valley Vintage Auto Parts" ( I noted there was two similar sights)
  20. Is "Valley Vintage Auto" off air or is my computer rs
  21. I inadvertently posted a 1939 Chrysler factory of origin and build date question under Chrysler Buy/Sell section, should have been under Chrysler/Mopar general !! In this new revised Forums format I could not find an "Edit" or Cancel/Remove button, how can I do this or re post in correct section ?? TKS
  22. My Aussie 1939 Royal was assembled here in Oz from knocked down form and includes many Aussie manufactured parts to satisfy local Australian content Laws of that era. MY question is,... Can anybody tell from my cars serial number 7,585,909 engine No C22-13133 what USA factory it may have come from and in what month/year, Thanks
