  1. Any answers please? I am waiting to go out and buy the oils for a complete change, I dont know what is in it as I have not owned the car long. This will be my first service, R
  2. I am interested to know the oil capacities of the Chrysler six 241.5 Cu in engine and O/D transmission, diff etc My local manuals are vague and your advice would be appreciated, also there seems to be some controversy over engine oil and transmission lubricant recommendations using modern oils. P.S Also a modern spark plug recommendation too please. Over to the members for their views, Thanks
  3. For those who have viewed my previous 1939 Chrysler Royal posts my car now starts like a gem! I want to thank Robert B in Oz who came to my rescue through AACA and rebuilt my Max 4020A starter for me, works great now. Robert, thanks for your very personal service. Also I want to thank a Carby gentleman who I have come to know through Ebay, namely Ted Dudley in Florida. Ted built me a Carter BB carby with the correct RHD throttle levers he had in his inventory, a magnificent job too. With the new Starter my car started first go, revved and idled like a bought one. Ted works from home and is a wiz on BB carbs and also mean expert on uprated multi carb setups etc. With his permission Ted can be contacted on thrsty9@gmail.com, he is ever so helpful. Rich
  4. Hey!! Don't pick on me, there was 127 viewers before me who didn't have a guess either, anyway I new it was a Stoewer all the time! At least I took the time to post a comment! On a serious note.do you realize how frustrating it can be to get such a large number of viewers and nobody say's Boo!!!
  5. Hello funny you have had 127 views but no responses, I wonder why, it cant be that rare, looks to be RHD ?
  6. Thanks once again seems the alternative MAW4011A is a RHD unit with 18lbs ft torque, re MAX 4020A fitted on my C22 RHD car is rated at 25lbs ft torque in local specs. Confusing EH! I'm just trying to determine if the MAW 4011 is a suitable spare part alternative to my MAX 4020A. (The MAW 4011A is for smaller capacity 1937 D5 Dodge, so would it spin the C22 241.4 Cu In Donk OK ???.....That is the question !!)
  7. Can anyone assist with Torque, RPM specs etc for a Chrysler starter MAW 4011A and what car/model/engine it was originally fitted to. Rich P.S Thanks also to those who responded to my previous Chrysler starter post.
  8. We don't seem to be having much luck, sorry, but your PDF attachment is blank, R
  9. Do you mean MAX 4020A with 18ft lbs torque, how does this compare to the MAW 4011A. Also does your info give the operating RPM?, Thanks Rich
  10. Thanks for that info, yes it is a 1939 Royal 241.5 Cu In. Also with the different model starters used on the early Mopars I assume they would also have different "power" and operating Revs. I.E would a starter off a 218 Cu In have the guts to turn a 241.5 Cu In over successfully.? Does anyone have a chart on on the different starters with specs? etc. TKS
  11. Howdy, A Chrysler C22 starter motor question.. Firstly, my Aussie car is fitted with a MAX 4020A Starter is this the correct model starter and secondly, will a MAW 4011A be suitable as a possible spare unit? When mounted the 4020A Solenoid is below the starter but the MAW 4011A when mounted would have solenoid on the high side. Another observation is that the MAX 4020A on my car has exposed solenoid linkages whilst the possible spare MAW 4011A has "covered" linkages. Any advice or suggestions please, Rich
  12. Hi, I have always wondered what was different about the workings of the Willy's "Sleeve Valve" Motor. Rich
  13. G'Day Dave Its' my 71st birthday and I'm half the world away and cant wait to re visit the States and do a car show like this, R
  14. Pertronix....??? I think the jury is still out, I admit I have been a little scared off and will maybe stick with points. However everybody is warning about a Pertronix failure leaving you stranded (but always carry a spare points set). But can I pose the question.... if you are worried about high tech electronic failure ( Like Pertronix ) why are you all driving modern daily drivers?? When their electronics and/or computers fail by the roadside you go nowhere, you cant fix and your bank balance is about to diminish big time. Should I recommend you always carry a new electronic loom and engine Computer... So why are they not still building new cars with points ?? Just a few interesting points to heat up the discussion!!
  15. G\Day Rusty?? Australia is a good place to buy basic vintage Mopar parts such as fuel pumps. water pumps etc, lot cheaper than US shipping too, however body parts/hardware sre scarce. If you want some Aussie contacts let me know. I can also recommend a few Yankee people I can trust, Rich
  16. G'Day from MT Tamborine Qld are you in Port Arthur on vacation?? Rich
  17. Seems there is a lot of divided opinion, but I guess that is the case with most things, so far I'd rate the Pertronix discussions as 50% either way. And yes they do make a 6V Pos ground unit! Rich
  18. Anybody had any experience with Pertronix Distributor/point conversions, good.. bad...good value...no benefit...??etc etc I've been keen on buying one for my late 30's 6volt pos ground Chrysler but first some feedback would be great, yes ..no.. any alternative brands,... options? your thoughts please.... Rich
  19. Howdy, Still wondering if any body can help with a 1939 Chrysler C22 Speedo, I have exhausted all my leads so far, Warm regards, Rich
  20. You sure are right, Bob was a breath of fresh air, no bull*h*t, a likeable vintage Mopar craftsman, I can recommend Bob to all Aussie vintage Dodge, Chrysler etc owners needing repairs, Rich
  21. Hi I drove 50 miles ( in OZ ) and met Robert B today, Bob offered to look at my suspect 6V starter for me. Wow Bob you amazed me with your vintage Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth/Desoto etc knowledge. Bob is a wizard.he disassembled and assessed my starter problem in a flash ! I will be back often !! Thankyou Bob
