  1. Interested. Just bought a 1988. I am not familiar what a complete "kit" consists of for 1988. For instance, does yours include the sign-off by the supervisors? Also, the only cases I have seen are leather with a zipper... Do you happen to have the VIN this "kit" came from? Thanks.
  2. Is it sold yet? Interested in another 1991...
  3. Help, please! I bought a 1988 with a factory sunroof which does not open. The passenger side of the top (rear) sits about 1/4"above the rest of the roof. The motor works, inasmuch as I can hear it trying to do the job in forward and reverse. I tried to push the top up from inside as I turn on the switch, but that did not break the top loose. I was able to see daylight from the inside, so I used a thin strip of lumber to hold up the rear of the roof panel on the passenger side. Then, I added five more strips under the panel, working my way across the roof to the more reluctant driver side. I can see the alluminum rails. I have been advised to wax them, but can't reach the full length of the rails and don't know how to apply the wax for the length. Since I have gone as far as I can on this project without threat of bending the roof panel, I ask for your advice. Any suggestions on what to do next to make the sunroof operable? Thanks so much.
  4. The leather book with zipper and signatures of all supervisors involved in producing the Reatta is precious, particularly if it includes the original ink pen, tire gauge, and... (Item #3 slipped my mind). I have seen them on EBay. You should be able to look up what they sold for in the past... Definitely not something to throw away.
  5. I need the emergency brake ratchet. Mine is jammed in the up position. I just got my 1988 Thursday and have not had a chance to determine if the part is common to other years. Also, if by chance it has a sunroof, I need parts (although I know they do not have to come off a 1988). Thanks,Charlie
  6. Being the year of lowest production numbers, I can hardly think of any part that may be valuable if not today, five years from now. Best for some one in the area to preserve the hulk.
  7. I know they are as rare as hen teeth, but does any one have a liner available for a Reatta rear window? Urgently needed. Trying to get my car back together in time for Van Nuys on the 23rd. My neighbor blew the window out with his mower but won't admit it. I have the glass but need a decent liner because the janitor at the glass shop ripped it out of my car instead of it being properly removed. This matter has not been going well at all... Thanks. 8. I was having 'puter problems earlier Walter, and don't know if I got through to you. The rear window in my bride's '91 Reatta mysteriously exploded in the driveway in front of my house today. (Bullet? Rock? Defibitely not heat... The police left no explanation, only consolation. (My neighbor was mowing his lawn and hitting rocks, but...) I now have a new motivation for the Los Gatos car. If I come down to get it and scrap my 1990 unit to provide it an engine, I will have a rear window from my 1990 to replace the one lost in the 1991 today. If you want the Los Gatos car, I understand since you are there and I am not. But, if you have seen it, it is in decent shape for a fair price and you don't want it, I'm ready to come south to haul it back. Please let me know when you know something. Thanks, Charlie 206 790 9444
  9. The rear window in my bride's 1991 Reatta exploded today in the middle of the afternoon in my driveway in front of my house. It was not caused by heat and police examined it for vandalism. Rock? Bullet? They had no answer to offer, only consolation. Our baby, which joined our home bringing such tremendous joy only this January, has been severely violated with no person to hold accountable. Please help us during our time of mourning. Our baby needs intensive care. HELP! I need a rear window! *************** Thanks, guys. I know you share my pain. Charlie
  10. Were you planning to drive straight through to Fresno with no stop? This might work. We were planning to take some time going down, travel about elsewhere and into NV and AZ, then make a quicker trip home.
  11. Completely understood. We need to arrange something locally, though.
  12. We have seen the Castle. We wouldn't see it this time. I just thought Hwy 1 would be a nice change inasmuch as 101 ain't what it used to be in terms of scenery and it has freeway traffic... If it is still there, there is a Reatta I want to see in Monterey. If you weren't stopping at Fresno, I would prefer to cut off I-5 at Redding or Red Bluff and pick up 101 and go the rest of the way down through SF, continuing south on 101 and 1. I issued an earlier proposal for Bay Area folks to meet up at Golden Gate Park to caravan down, but I don't expect the proposal to go far. I used to drive straight through to Orange County in 18-20 hours. I'm 67 now and can't and don't want to travel that way any more.
  13. Nothing is set in stone yet for us either. We know that afterwards we want to look at possible Snowbird sites, (Lake Havasu, Palm Springs, Henderson, NV, and Sun City West, AZ.) As for the trip down, I believe it is 30 miles longer to LA from Seattle going through Bend but a more scenic road trip than going down the main blvd. FYI, we have been happy in the past with the Super 8 Motel in Roseburg (in the event we opt for I-5). (TUES PM). It has always been reasonably priced, clean, secure, AND has an indoor pool. It has worked well for us in the past to get into Central CA the next day. There are a couple Reattas to look at in the Bay Area (if still available). I was thinking Woodland the second night (WED PM) and over to the Bay Area and down 101 and 1 (Big Sur and San Simeon) with a third night in Oxnard Area (THURS) and then down the Coast (Malibu and Santa Monica) for Friday night. This gives Saturday free or an extra day if required going down. Any others wanting to join us yet? Charlie and Diane Tukwila, WA
  14. Ritzville, WA? How about Hwy 97 through Goldendale and Bend? We live near Seattle and my wife Diane and I plan to go have been looking for others to caravan down, joining up along the I-5 Corridor. Any interest from Reattaites in WA. OR, or CA?
  15. What looks like a clean 1990 Reatta coupe is for sale (Best Offer) in Los Gatos, CA. It can be found by searching the San Francisco Craigslist. (Enter search:3834586084) The deal is it needs an engine and the owner wants the vehicle to go to a collector. I am in the Seattle Area and could go get it with my F150 and car hauler, inasmuch as I have a 1990 coupe that is trashed cosmetically but really tight underneath. (I would hope to come up with a nice 1990 and a whole lot of parts.) I have told the owner I could be down next week to pick it up, but would like more info on it if anyone has seen it. Has any one seen this vehicle? I was hoping a Reatta collector in the Area will snag it. Or, if it has been seen but you are going to pass on the opportunity, would you send me a PM to let me know what shape it is in? Thanks. Charlie
  16. Found them on the farm I inherited. 1/$50, 2/$80, 3/$100. Seattle Area. Willing to ship.
  17. Just spoke with salesman. This vehicle sounds like it is worth looking at for anyone in the 43512 Zip Area Says no apparent body rust. Headliner good, typical headlight door problem, clearcoat failing, seam in driver's seat " could be re-stitched", engine light, (runs "rough"), antenna bent, original wheels, 122,000 miles. IMPORTANT: Auto is heading to Fort Wayne Auto Auction Monday (So says Pete the salesman). Please understand I have not seen the vehicle and I am going on what the salesman said. That said, I would certainly check it out if I were in the area and felt local Reatta enthusiasts should know about this one. ( In short, I hope I helped some one.) Contact: Pete @ EstleChevrolet Cadillac 866 415 4878 $1200 Internet asking price.
  18. One Reatta wasn't enough. The bride quit driving our 1996 Taurus so I made a straight swap in Kelso Saturday... I drove home a silver/gray 1990 with good bones that needs a lot of cosmetic attention. I didn't really need more to keep me busy, but perhaps it will help keep me young. BTW: I still want another 1991, but when I compare what I got for $3100 (not the $3600 asked) in Scapoose, I can't duplicate the deal.
  19. Yeah, Greg. Now where can I get the one I need for the 1990 silver/gray I acquired two days ago, AND one for my 1991??? I have a tape stuck in the 1990 and destroyed a tape in the 1991 removing it! Regards, - Charlie
  20. Some might recall I bought the 1991 white/red Reatta in Scapoose OR in January. Today I brought home a 1990 gray/gray from near Portland. My bride got the Scapoose vehicle and would no longer drive the 1996 Taurus, so I arranged for a straight across trade,Taurus/Reatta. The gray/gray I brought home needs some attention. I went into the trade with my eyes open... Tires and battery are nearly new; brakes, struts, and shocks are quite good, no dings on windshield, the headliner is new, and the antenna actually works. But, paint is poor and there are a copy body dings. To the point: I need help rounding up the following... Motors for the headlights.(Manual knob is off one. I think it best not to use the kit this time.) Gray visors. (Would you believe the headliner was replaced but the visors are a piece of crap?) I have the common electrical module problem and a cassette tape stuck in the player (Basically, I would like all electronics for the dash. The pistons are shot in the shafts intended tohold up the hood. (What are they called? I'm having an Old Timer's minute.) The threaded tie-down for the spareis missing. (Strange since the trunk, spare, and jack appear unused.) The gray drivers seat is torn at the seam and they went too long to get it fixed... The damage goes beyond the seam (material is missing) so simply re-sewing the seam will not fix it. I have a friend who owns an upholstery shop, but if there are gray seats out ther let me know. Tomorrow I will replace fuses. The mirrors do not adjust electrically as an example...don't know if it is just a fuse. All advice in gathering up what I need to get this Reatta with a rather rare color combination back on the road will be surely appreciated. Thanks!
  21. One of those convertiblesin WA and I believe one in ID. Keep me in mind. I would drive one to GA for you because of the availability of so many FL cars for me to bring back!
