    oxford leather

Great response so far. I have the photo from e-bay and the sample from an original Franklin in hand. My next step will be to bring it to a very good interior installer. he does some furniture restoration and my be a good resource for the old style leathers. I will keep everyone posted. Thanks all.

    oxford leather

Thanks for the responses so far. I have already received a sample of leather from a coupe. I need to get it to someone that can ID it. It almost has gray look to it. I think that the proper cleaning products will bring it back as it is a solid sample. If anyone know of an original oxford sedan A picture of the color would be the best help as of now. I am hopping that when this gets sorted out we can include it in the club info for future reference .

    oxford leather

I AM GETTING READY TO START THE INTERIOR OF MY 32 163 SEDAN. I HAVE GRAT PATTERNS FROM MY ORIGINAL STUFF BUT IT IS ALL WOOL. I WANT TO GO WITH LEATHER, HAS ANYONE OUT THERE FOUND THE SPECS ON THE PROPER LEATHER? LIKE GRAIN, THICKNESS, AND CORECT COLOR. IF NOT IS THERE SOMEONE OUT THERE WITH AN OXFORD SEDAN THAT COULD CUT A SMALL SCRAP FORM UNDER THE SEAT AS A SAMPLE?

    FRANKLIN photos

The frame is being painted as of this post and the engine is half assembled.
  6. I also had a pump failure of the same kind. We started a new engine and the tang on the oil pump shaft snapped off. It took about 5 to 10 minutes for the engine to screech to a stop. I will never run an engine again without a good oil pressure gage in plan sight. it is still an unknown why the shaft snapped.

    FRANKLIN photos

can someone explain how to insert a photo. I would like to show my 32 in the process of restoration but do not know how to post a picture??
  8. if you can wait for our snow to melt i will take mine to the scale and get it weighed. Looking out the window with the snow falling that may be July or August!!!
  9. I weigh mine once and with me in it and a full tank of fuel it was around 4500 LBS. if my memory is correct!!!!!
  10. my 29 130 is the only car I would never part with. A great car to take friends out.
  11. Yes just the to cover with the two wing nuts and look in. It should take less the 15 mins. to check the timing , And the includes any car guy help the is with you!!!!
  12. The Franklin box kits are for the gemmer box #20500. Franklin also used a box #34000on some latter models. This box does not have a kit as of yet. These kits can be made for ANY gemmer box but it requires a donor box that will be lost forever with the factory for sample. Then an order for 50 kits with money up front. There is some very difficult international shipping logistics that can add a few thousand dollars in shipping. I did this up front with the franklin club ands when it was all over the cost came in under $500.00 per kit but took 2 1/2 yeas to complete the project. So if any clubs want to get together and come up with the resources I would be willing to work with you. Just remember this is a all in commitment once the process is started and after 2 years you start to feel like it will never happen and investors get inpatient.
  13. i have a few apart but have not put them together. they are just splined onto the transmission. Take the bolts out and pull. this is the second request this month so I will try to see how we will put seals in. I am also in the process of restoring a 32 sedan.
  14. I have had Packard and Pirece clubs contact me. They use Gemmers but of a different model. I have also had a few contact me with some other makes but all are diffident . it seem like Gemmer made many boxes for everyone. Sorry to say they are all very different. It would be interesting to find someone that worked for Gemmer and find out if they built to each marques design.
  15. THAT SHOULD BE A ROSS BOX. GTHOSE ARE GOOD BOXES AND CAN BE ADJUSTED BY REMOVING SHIMS. THEY ARE A SIMPLE BOX.
  16. Jeff or Tom !!! can you help me with this question? I think that it is the 30 and some of the 31s that had the 34000 box than it changed to the 20500. I may have that backwards though. I also think that the 34000 box held up better and there may not be as much of a need for them.
  17. How many of you out there in web land would be interested in doing a run of the kits for the 34000 boxes? I will need to order 50 so I need toy know that there is a big need for theses kits
  18. My 29 130 has the brake in the center by the shifter.
  19. I have a 29 130 with all the parts you are asking about. I am rebuilding a 56 Pratt at the moment (me). As soon as I am back on the feet I will take some pic,s
  20. Also make sure to lube the rockers and top end before you run it. If it has sat alone time the top end will be dry. There are many opinions on what oil to use But I like s on synthetic on the top. I have a 29 130 and it has pads that need a strong coat of oil.
  21. I do not know but it is very nice wood work!!
  22. Tom, would that be the leather use for the 32 oxford sedan? I think I need 7 hides though.
  23. There are 2 nice project cars on thee Franklin sight now. the 32 looks light a great beginner project.
  24. I will look to see what I have. I have a bunch of 32/31/30 jugs. All will work but the trained eye will notice that missing webbing on the 30/31. If you do not find one let me know and I will go on the parts hunt in my stash.
