  7. Jack Palance was a native of the Scranton area so seeing him at Hershey would not be out of the question. Terry
  8. TV news showed flooding inside Hershey Park. The weathermen sure missed the severity of this storm. Glad it wasn't snow! Terry
  9. I have both Stant and Dole catalogs. Sent you an e-mail to the address in your post. Terry
  10. One more thing, are you SURE there is enough gas in the tank? Most gas tank fuel lines do not allow for draining all the gas out of the tank. This is to avoid drawing dirt and sediment from the tank bottom into the fuel system. You need to have at least enough gas in the tank to cover the fuel line completely. Terry
  11. Some easy things to look at: You could disconnect the fuel line from the carb and put a gasoline grade rubber hose on it about 1 foot long. Put the other end of the hose into a clear container and then have someone hold the hose and container while you turn the engine over. That will pump some gas into the container and you can look for signs of rust or dirt in the gas. If none is found you are good. Borrow a pressure gage to measure the fuel pump pressure. I'm not sure what your Packard is rated at but a manual will tell you. Typical fuel pump pressure is about 4 to 6 psi. You will again have to turn over the engine with the pressure gage connected to the gas line from the fuel pump to measure the fuel pump pressure. If the measured pressure is good then fuel pump is ok. If fuel pump checks good then the carb is most likely the problem. As mentioned, the fuel filter on the carb may be clogged and /or the float bowl may have nasty stuff in it. You should get a repair manual, like a Packard shop manual or a MOTORS manual to help you with carb removal and disassembly. Most times you can remove the carb top and look inside the float bowl to see what's living in there. The incoming gas from the fuel line has to get past the float and into the float bowl so it can get into the rest of the carb to do its job. Many times the old gas dries in the bottom of the bowl and blocks the holes that feed the gas supply in the carb to the air mix section of the carb. When you dump raw gas in the carb you bypass the metering sections of the carb enough to get the car to run for a short time. This is a simplified set of instructions but I hope you get the idea. Good luck! Terry
  12. Had over 5" of rain here in Lititz, east of Hershey and its still raining. Local TV station is reporting some flooding in the area. Hopefully the weather will be better tomorrow. Chance of showers is predicted. Terry
  13. Taking reasonable offers for entire collection, including items not seen in boxes under the tables. I quit counting at 250 items. Terry
  14. I bought a 1995 Ford F150 new in 1996. It carried me and my wife and three year old son everywhere. The truck was called the Henry Ford Motel as I had a fiberglass cap on it and my son and I did camp-outs in it. It later became the gear hauler truck for me and my son when we joined the local Boy Scout troop. I taught my son how to drive with it when he turned 16. It was his run around vehicle until he went off to college. I had to sell it this year during our downsizing and move. Even my wife, who has no emotional attachment to cars or trucks, admitted she was sad to see it go. It still had the little stickers on the sun visor the nice lady at the bank gave to my son when we used the drive through window service. Lots of good memories were made in the truck that made it a part of our family. Terry
  15. More photos: Located in Lititz PA just east of Hershey via Rt 322 to Rt. 501 south. Bulk sales and dealers welcome too! Send PM or call 717-627-2797. Thanks! Terry
  16. For a moment imagine its the 1930's with the Great Depression going on. I'm sure there were a lot of old luxury cars that would have generated the same type of discussion. If only our crystal ball would tell us what demand would be like in another 20 years! Terry
  17. Make sure the points and condenser are working properly before replacing the coil. The points have to open for the coil to make spark. Good luck with your new project and congratulations for working on a car like a Packard! Terry
  18. Great news, Fred. The bowl gasket should be an easy fix. Terry
  19. I appreciate the inputs received so far on my collection and the words of encouragement on my accident. As I mentioned I am no longer able to walk. This is a permanent situation as I have a T11 spinal cord injury due to the wreck. That translates into paralyzed from the waist down. Also, the SUV point of impact was my right leg. It was damaged to the point where it had to be amputated about 8" above the knee. This situation has made me decide to sell off my literature collection as I can no longer maintain it. The AACA forums have been extremely helpful in my recovery. I have met many great people and I enjoy reading about your cars and projects. I'm "open for business" right now as I am home every day, with the exception of Tuesday afternoons. Home phone is 717-627-2797 or PM with questions. Thanks, Terry Boyer Lititz PA 17543
  20. I'm sure some pricing might help. The early MOTORS manuals for 1935-42 are $20 each, the rest are $15 each. Same goes for Chilton and Motor Age books at $15 each. Most shop manuals are $15-$20 each, shop manual supplements are $10, parts books are $20 - $25 each and owners manuals are $5 and up. Terry
  21. Selling off my collection of antique auto and truck literature. Ford, GM, MoPAR, some foreign makes, IH, White trucks, early Automobile Quarterly books, plus a lot of MOTORS, Motor Age, and Chilton professional repair manuals. Consists of shop manuals, parts books, owners manuals and more. The MOTORS manuals include the early editions that cover 1935 and up cars and truck (one box is shown, there are 5 or six boxes more). I am selling these items from my home in Lititz PA 17543 which is about 15 miles east of Hershey PA. Items are on display in my garage. Will sell by the piece or by the box full. Cash only please. I am unable to bring these items to Hershey as I am disabled from an auto accident last May. An SUV struck me while I was operating a motorcycle and I am no longer able to walk as a result of the accident. An appointment can be made to view the collection most days in the afternoon, except Tuesdays as I have therapy that day. Send me a PM for more information and directions. The photos show some of the items, more getting unboxed each day. Thank you, Terry Boyer
  22. As seen on other posts in this forum, its these little glitches that make the car "enduring" to its owner. Don't give up yet!! Getting the starter to spin is farther ahead that you were when you started this discussion. Terry
