Having a hard time fixing exhaust leak,anybody know why gaskets cant be used(russ martin says manifold will break).Just wondering how others have fixed this problem.After rebuild head wasn't plained so shouldn't manifold match up.Thanks T.N. roa 12969...

Put a larger cam in my 425 on rebuild and still have same braking.Is this because of the larger vacuum canister on the 63?T.Nugent ROA 12969...

Jack the rear of car up,if both wheels turn in the same direction its a posi(turn by hand).

Jeff my 63 ran fine with 130,000 miles,but i knew that i would rebuild someday because im keeping it.Anyway it dropped a valve and broke a piston,so it was rebuild time.I got the parts from russ (30 over pistons,rings,valves,springs,pushrods,lifters,oil pump,cam,all bearings,timing chain setup,gasket set,and a few things i problobly forgot for around $1900.Then had a reputal engine shop do all motor work done installing everything except timingchain cover,water pump,valley pan,etc.for $1550.Happy to have new motor and painted engine bay.Good Luck and keep us posted.Tim Nugent ROA 12969...

Ed while my engine was out i wire brushed my exhaust manifolds (in car) and treated them with Jasco prep and prime,rinsed with a spray bottle of water.Painted two coats with Hirsch cast iron gray.After motor install took out for breakin about 90 miles,got home and All the paint was gone.Guess i didnt get them rinsed well enough.Hope this helps others in the future.Tim Nugent ROA 12969...

Go to nailheadbuick on the web-Russ Martins website.He has tech section that tells how to replace.He as tom telesco are the nailhead gooroos.If they make a neoprene seal he'll have it.Great guy to talk to.Just put the neoprene in my 425-very simple.Goodluck.T.Nugent roa 12969...

Hole in flexplate is problobly not lined up with hole(divit)in crank housing.They have to be lined up for external ballancing.This problem comes up alot after rebuild.T.N.roa12969...

David did you turn oil pump and crank to oil before starting.Im getting ready to start mine after rebuild.Mine dropped a valve into the piston and put a hole in the cylinder wall.After startup im going to post before and after pics with the help of Ed(Rivnut).Good luck.T.Nugent ROA 12969...

The block had a hole in it from a broken piston,reason for sleeving.T.N...
