  1. Dynaflash8 I am talking hot pressure. Meaning on a 40 - 50 mile run. So I think I am good on the pressure issue. Thanks to all for the feed back. Wayne
  2. Larry Interesting. I was wondering if you know the production date for your car. My car was built in Oct. of 1940 for the 1941 model year. I am wondering (not that it matters) if the factory was using 15" on Supers in the first months of production prior to going to 16" for the Supers? Thanks for your response. "Nice Buick you have there sir" Wayne
  3. Our family Buick. Photo taken Easter Sunday 1950 at my Dads work. Kingsburg, California. Wayne B. 1941 Super 51
  4. Thanks Danny I like those words "unnecessary worry":) "Miss Super" is due for her oil change in about 500 miles. I'll have it checked then. Wayne
  5. Great looking Buick. Talpal what city are you in? I work a couple week ends each month in Colma / Daly City. would love to see your car if you are close. I am attaching a photo of our family Buick (I believe it was a Special) when I was a kid in 1950. I am 5 years old here on an Easter Sunday in a photo taken at my Dads work. My Dad sold our family Buick in about 1955 in Selma / Fresno Ca. could it be your Buick:confused: Do you know any history of your Buick? Thanks for posting. Wayne B. Fresno, Ca.
  6. In response to the questions My Buick does have an oil filter. I have had the pan cleaned out and at the time also had the valve cover gasket replaced. I think my mechanic would have noticed gunk in the valve area and clean it as well. I was thinking my pressure is good at 47+#s at highway speeds and about 18-20#s at idle. N0? I'll look down the oil fill with the engine running to see if I can see oil moving/splashing I was hoping not to get into the removal of the valve cover for now until I go back to my mechanic for an oil change. I will remove line coming out of the head as I can get to that fitting. (Hope if it has the filter that's the location. not the top of the line inside the valve cover) Thanks gentlemen for the information and photos it is a great help for a non mechanic like myself. Wayne B.
  7. Is oil pressure an indicator of a clogged screen? (Low / no oil pressure or High pressure?) or no indicator in regards to clogged screen. My car shows approx. 18-20#s at idle & 47#s at 50-60 mph. Wayne B. 1941 Super 51
  8. Thanks Dynaflash8 Are you saying not to replace that filter and go with out one? Thanks to all for advice. Sure appreciate the feed back. Wayne B.
  9. I was looking through my owners manual for my '41 Super. I see there is a rocker arm shaft oil line screen which should be changed or cleaned every 10K miles. Is this a must do as I just discovered this is supposed to be done. I doubt it has ever been cleaned or changed on my car, which now has 26,500 original miles. Have I done any harm to the engine? The car runs great and has approx. 47#s oil pressure when running 55 -60 mph. I am not due to change the oil for another 5 or 600 miles. I can take a look at the filter then. Comments? Wayne B. 1941 Buick Super Fresno, Ca.
  10. Oscar You will have lots of fun with that old girl. I just got back from a 52 mile run. Highway / Freeway driving. It was a nice day here for driving "Miss Super" Thanks for responding. Wayne
  11. Yes. One other thing. My engine originally was dark grey. (evident by peeling paint). which was a 1940 color Buick used until November 1940 for the 1941's. when the engine color changed to red. Some time in the last 73 years the engine has been painted turquoise. I think to update the engine color used in the 1950's. Maybe an owner wanted the smaller wheel and calibrated the speedometer for the smaller wheel size. Thanks Grant I always enjoy your responses here.
  12. Most of what I have read regarding wheel size for a 1941 Super states the wheel is 16". My car has 15" including the spare. The car was built in Oct of 1940 for the 1941 model years. Could this be the reason for the smaller wheel size? I have no plan to change them. I believe they are original as is the rest of the car. The speedometer is correct to the mile. Just some thoughts from this great source of knowledge:) Thanks Wayne B. 1941 Super 51
  13. Sorry I don't have a photo. My favorite is the 1956 Olds. Gotta love that chrome:)
  14. Burrrr.... I think my Buick (which spent its first 70 years in Minnesota) is happy she came to California. We're going for a good drive tomorrow it's suppose to be about 65 degrees. Wayne B. 1941 Buick Super
  15. Congrats on your find. It is a beautiful car. You're going to have lots of fun with that one. Wayne B. 1941 Buick
  16. Bob I sent you a private message because we share being owners of '41 Supers. I tried to attached a photo of my car to the P.M. message but don't know how, so here is a picture of mine. It just turned 26K original on the clock. Looking forward to some pictures of your Super. Wayne Fresno, Ca.
  17. Re: 1941 Buick. My gas gauge was never still when I had 1/4 to 1/2 tank but seemed to register fairly accurately. But the last couple times I put gas, ( I am sure I have a least 1/2 tank) the gauge floats mostly at empty moving to 1/2 once in a while but very erratic. Maybe the sending unit? If so how difficult is it to replace? Any ideas? I have never filled up since I have owned the car. Usually keep 6 to 9 gallons in the tank. Thanks Wayne Burch 1941 Super 51
  18. Great looking Buick:) Hope you will post some before and after photos of the woodgrain. I am just curious where you are located. Good luck on the work Wayne 1941 Super 51 Fresno, Ca.
  19. Just wondering how many other 1941 Super 51 owners are part of this forum and where they are located. (How bout some pictures?) Here's mine. Wayne Burch Fresno, California
  20. I think it is a 1947 Olds. Wayne B.
  21. Any one know of an owner of a 1941 Buick (two tone green sedan) from Harrison Tennessee? Story and photo was featured in a Reminisce magazine article May of 2011. My new Buick friend in NJ was looking for him. If you know anything about the Buick and the owner sure would appreciate the info. Thanks Wayne 1941 Buick Super 51
  22. rramer Congrats and welcome. You gotta love those 41's. I replaced my fuel pump from "Bobs" a little over a year ago and have had no fuel delivery problems thus far. My car is a driver (usually 40 + miles weekly). Good luck. These old Buicks are lots of fun. Wayne 1941 Super 51 26K original miles
