Thanks Terry; My governor is different from this one, it stands vertically and is actuated by gears in the engine block. As the engine speeds up the horizontal drive shaft turns, which in turn operates a butterfly located in a housing between the carburetor and intake manifold. Just wondering how to adjust this thing. Looks like yours is activated by a flexible drive from a tach drive or other gear drive.

My Federal truck has a Continental B7 engine with a Pharo governor; Haven't been able to find how is the governor adjusted.

You could probably turn an outside sleeve and tack it on where you need it.

1931 Buick-87 oil pressure drops to 5psi as rpms increase
1wonton replied to Duane Meyers's topic in Buick - Pre War
Before you pull the pan you might want to check the oil lines from the oil filter, one line has a special fitting that restricts the oil flow. I would temporarily plug the input line {to the filter, from the pump), then run the engine to see if anything changes. -
1931 Buick-87 oil pressure drops to 5psi as rpms increase
1wonton replied to Duane Meyers's topic in Buick - Pre War
Duane; Sine you've said this problem has always been present even though the engine was supposedly rebuilt I will again suggest the issue is with the oil pump. I've rebuilt several model 90 oil pumps and will tell you that the springs and plungers must be installed correctly, or you will experience the problem you describe. The springs are different length, and one plunger has a little hole in it. It would have been easy for the rebuilder to get these parts installed incorrectly since they will all fit interchangeably. You would be best advised to pull the pump and inspect it before you go to any further analysis, that way you could eliminate this possibility as the cause of the low oil pressure at speed. -
Recently, I posted a Wanted item (looking for 1931 Buick roadster windshield stantions) on the Facebook web page. Immediately I received numerous responses from people saying they had the part and requested I contact them. I responded by asking for pictures and price, but no one could produce this request. Looks like all the responders had only become "members" a few days before, so it is apparent that there are many people out there looking to scam anyone so naïve as me. I won't use this Facebook again looking for parts.

Last wood frame door "High cab" 1936 and first all steel GMC (Chevy also) "low-cab" 1936. In fact, all GM cars and trucks bodies were wood framed up until 1936, i.e. Buick, Cadillac, Pontiac< Chevrolet, etc.

That wasn't my question. I was fully aware of the title status before the auction. Last car I bought (two years ago Monterey Auction) Gooding registered the car and sent me the new title. I live in California and the auction was in California so maybe that was different than the auction being held in Virgina. Thanks for the advice....................

Positive to positive, negative to negative.

Also, if the engine is newly rebuilt it may be tight bearings that are making it difficult to turn over when hot.

Oh no! I'm done for, after I clean out the shower, I might as well light up a cigarette and go work on my brakes.................. We're all doomed.

ASBESTOS..................? Really, you would have to be exposed to years of friable asbestos to be even remotely a candidate for cancer. Asbestos is a known carcinogen but there is no evidence that occasional exposure poses any risk. Toxic mold, asbestos, secondhand smoke, Jesus, what's next?

I have had similar problem with the '31 Cadillac Johnson carburetor. I replaced the original cork float with a new plastic float which didn't really stop the leak, plus it tends to stick closed unless I tap on the carb body. My problem is with the float valve hanging up. This valve is rather delicate, and you have to get the little brass clip bent just right in order for it work correctly. I have a couple spare V8 Cadillac Johnson carburetors if you need them.

Tried to order the Airtex 8011 on Amazon but it's not available, nor on Summit. Is there a source for this pump any longer?
-
Does the Airtex fuel pump just install inline? When you turn off the pump does the mechanical fuel pump (on the engine) then pull fuel thru the Airtex? Is there any check valve in the Airtex that prevent fuel from running back into the fuel tank? ron

I'd ask about a million dollars, then sit around dreaming about what I'm going to do with all that money........................... Seriously, people all the time ask "How much can I get........". Just put a price on how much you want and let it go for whatever you can get. Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered.

This motor came out of a "34 Buick but the engine number indicates 1936 so I don't know what year the engine is. It has updraft manifold but I thought '36 were downdraft. Let me know if you're interested in the engine. Located in California. Engine turns over.

Sounds like a good idea; What would you consider a good low-ball offer I should make? -
