  1. I had a 1965 Chevrolet exactly like this when I was in high school. Same color , same model, but different wheels. I had stock chevy steel wheels and the small chevy hubcaps. Six Cylinder. I wrote about in Hemmings last year. I saw this one in Blue Island, Illinois.
  2. Buick Electra 225 on Stonegate Court, Calumet City, Illinois.
  3. 1970 Ford pick up truck on Price Street , Calumet City, Illinois.
  4. I purchased gasoline in East Chicago, Indiana, this A.M. for $3.23 a gallon. For the Chicago Metro area, that is pretty cheap gas.
  5. Depending on the amount of the prize. I have about a dozen cars in mind. Pre-war Fords, Pre-war Buick, Mid-fifties Buicks.
  6. Gasoline prices, adjusted for inflation, are not that much more than they were in 1939. Three dollar and something gas is not expensive in comparison to a lot of locales. Try buying some $3 gas at Death Valley. I could not imagine forgoing an event that I had been planning on attending because I could not find someone to pitch in for gasoline.
  7. Another old Lincoln Town Car; near State Street and Torrence Avenue, Calumet City, Illinois.
  8. 1955 Chevrolet at Tom's Restaurant, Burnham Avenue, Calumet City, Illinois. Not a huge fan of 55-56-57 Chevy but I am told that they are real popular.
  9. Another Lincoln. Not on the street, on the driveway. Looks like it can be streetable with care. In Calumet City, Illinois.
  10. You need some reference materials. Plenty out there. Don't forget to dig out the old lead washer and replace with a new one.
  11. No driving today. I have been down since August 4, 2013. Trans went out. I have started the ball rolling to effect the necessary repairs. I went from driving my antique car everyday to no driving. Lucky my brother let me drive the 1941 Buick Series 90 Limited Model 91 6P Touring the other day. I gave my friend TomS. (on the right) and his wife a ride in the 1941 Limited.
  12. The posts from yesterday disappeared. Maybe they can be re-posted?
  13. An Old Buick finds a new home. I hope that this one does not end up Chopped, Shaved and Slammed. It is off the trailer now and sitting in the street presently. On Freeland Avenue, Calumet City, IL.
  14. A photo would help tremendously.
  15. 1937 Ford Standard Tudor driving on Wentworth Avenue near US Route 6, Calumet City, Illinois.
  16. And a few weeks later, another vintage Ford Thunderbird being worked on at Blair's Automotive, Burnham Avenue, Calumet City, Illinois. Blair's have been doing a lot of antique car work as of late.
  17. This early Ford Thunderbird is being worked on at Blair's Automotive on Burnham Avenue, Calumet City, Illinois. My wife loves them. Me, not so much. I can think of dozens of other cars I would buy first.
  18. Inspired by Stock Steve's Eldo in Motion posted above here is my contribution: 1968 Cadillac Coupe DeVille in motion on Burnahm Avenue, Calumet City, Illinois.
  19. 1938 Ford V-8 Pick Up Truck on Burnham Avenue, Calumet City, Illinois.
  20. Not since August 4, the car is down with a cooked trans. I am really missing it. I was driving my antique car nearly every single day.
  21. Saw this early Thunderbird at the local grade school. I think it is the same car I saw at Bob's Body Shop a few days earlier. Yes, same car. Old car spotted on the street twice.
  22. Need to get it back across town to where I store it and then down a narrow semi improved driveway to the garage. It would help tremendously if I can get the car to roll.
  23. There was trans oil in there. I just drained the trans oil, almost all there. I did find metal in the trans oil this A.M. Here is a photo of the two largest pieces. The rest are very very small shavings. The trans oil has a sheen on it like brown metal flake paint.
  24. Went for a ride this morning in my 1937 Ford 85hp and when I was attempting to shift up to third just after rounding a shallow corner the car skidded to a halt. The car is now stuck in third gear and I can't get the shift lever to move. The car will not roll on the rear wheels. Car has been towed with great care to my house about 1.5 miles away. I need to get it unstuck so I can get the car back to my storage place then I can start fixing. I will get under it later on and try and see what is up and perhaps even repair it. If not, I need to get the car back to the garage and drop the trans and rear end. Would like to at least get it unstuck so it can roll. When I first took off in the morning, there was a lot of clutch chatter in first, but seemed to settle down with time. The car performed excellent last night but this morning I am stuck in third gear and the car won't roll. What should I look for? Any obvious culprits to point to? Any help appreciated. Thanks.
