  1. I just sent them a Email so I hope they get it..
  2. As I build a exact duplicate 12 volt Dodge Bros Coil for one of the major parts distributors I would advise if the spark seems weak with wrong polarity the coil wires should be reversed as it will cause about 20% increase in coil output if polarity is correct.
  3. mix 1/2 acetone and 1/2 ATF.. Best penetrating oil there is..
  4. If there is current flowing to the coil with the points open the condenser is probly shorted.
  5. Ich bein einen plattduetsch. Permatex #2 should seal the studs. Das Permatex das is gutte fur dat. veist nicht dat du kanst dat kriegen ein Deutschland.. Gary
  6. There is also a lock washer under the nut!
  7. Odd.. My 25 has a threaded end on the shaft and a nut to hold the sprocket in place. Glad it came out ok. When you get it in and adjusted be sure to adjust the wedges so they are contacting the top and bottom of the unit and then put the strap on and tighten it. Hope you find the problem in the unit.
  8. Open the chain cover. Turn engine over until the repair link comes into view. Tie baling wire to each side so you don't loose the end of the chain down into the engine. Remove the Link and don't drop the link plate into the engine. Loosen the adjustable wedges that hold the starter body solid and remove strap. Loosen the big nut in the chain housing that holds the unit in place. It should slide out of the hole now. You should remove the carburetor also. When reinstalling the chain tension should be set. There is a eccentric in the big hole that can be rotated to adjust tension if needed.
  9. I would look at the Brass bolt terminals. The heavy copper straps that are under them inside the GA may be loose. The insulation bushing probably shrunk a bit with age and loosened. Check for broken brush lead wires too..
  10. Polarity is not a problem if you have the original starter box. If it is solid state conversion starter box then polarity needs to be right. With a original starter box it will work either neg or pos ground. The ampmeter will read backwards. There must be a bad connection inside the GA if you have 12 volts on the GA terminal. I doubt if it is fried.. I believe Pos Ground is correct on the 19.
  11. Hook a DC voltmeter to the Heavy brass terminal on the Starter/Generator and read the voltage to ground.. If its 14 volts or more at a fast idle the generator is putting out. If the ammeter don't show charging then I would suspect the cutout relay.
  12. Oh Ja.. I didn't see the link.. Metal siding on the shed..
  13. What do you mean , "Recreated" ? All of those stations are not real?
  14. Enjoy.. http://hipspics.freewebspace.com/gas/gas.html
  15. Use a couple ratchet straps when putting the pan back on. Just slowly work it all into place . The float rod can be installed as you pull the pan up.
  16. When working on radiator or any soldering job and using Muriatic Acid, It is a good idea to use "Cut Acid". A tinner in the local plumbing shop taught me as a kid to dissolve pieces of zink fruit jar lids in the acid and then it tins much better and don't burn so bad when you get it on your skin. 50-50 is good alloy for solder. 50% tin and 50% Lead.
  17. Here is a great link to the History of Dodge Brothers.. http://www.allpar.com/cars/dodge/dodge-cars.html
  18. I have pertronix in my 25 for 4 years now.. works great!
  19. Take the cover off where the Starter/gen sprocket is and turn it over with the crank and inspect the chain. maybe a link is coming loose.
  20. Had the same thing. Changed out the Starter/Gen and is fine now. I suspect grounded field coil..Old one is still in the shop. I will take it apart and test it out when I get time..
  21. I use DOT #5 in everything . Its universal and backwards compatible to #4 and #3. Its synthetic and wont absorb water like the Menthonol Alcohol based fluids. It also boils above 500 deg F. But its a bit costly..
