Oregon Desert model 45
A-400 unrestored body - NOT MINElink to craigslist ad will expire soonhttp://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/5140528979.html 1931 Ford Model A 400 Convertible Sedan - $10000 (Idaho City, ID)I am doing this ad for a friend who doesn't do computers. He does have some rare car parts, and this 31 A 400 is one of the rarest. It is the body and related parts only. No chassis, but a rust free body with most of the little things - even the top bows, ash trays, window mouldings, etc. He had a complete car at one time and it was taken away, so he has collected for years to get another one done. He has decided to move on to another project, so if you want to get a rare Model A, then this is your chance. The car is located near Idaho City; just outside of Boise. Don't email me because I can't talk for Bill. Give him a call and he can explain everything to you. Thanks

trimacar
Thanks, that is an interesting discussion.....personally, with the availability of all other parts out there, it seemed pretty close to on the money to me. Seems it could be restored for a lot less than the $75k mentioned. I know of a complete running gear, from a nice driving Model A coupe, that sold for $1000 here locally, and that included a nice set of fenders! It was a coupe, and of course the body was going on a rod chassis.
mercer09
There was a nice running a400 on the barn about 2 years ago, needed a little tidying up and the asking price was 26k............... so hard to say what a body is worth. I know just an ashtray is difficult to find and can be several hundreds of dollars, so how complete this one really is, I dont know........................ I would think a rat rod guy might be tempted by this one maybe a bit more then a purist.
Steve_Mack_CT
Would be a nice one to save, and as David says, although a major restoration would be needed, the real challenge would be in the A-400 specific parts. That said, your basically going to need another car to build this one, and it would still be a bitsa, albeit it could be a good one. Personally I prefer a cab to these but I know the rarity factors in with a lot of folks on these models.
Jeff Perkins / Mn
After having owned a 400-a and currently owning a cabriolet, I can tell you without qualification that the Cabby is a MUCH more comfortable car to drive. I have owned seven different body styles of the A and the only one I disliked was the 400.
