48Super
FOR SALE: 1966 Buick Wildcat GS Convertible PRICE: $24,000 LOCATION: Jacobus, PA 17407 CONTACT: Mike Lawson (717)-428-3408 Buick8guy@yahoo.com Beautiful, exceptionally clean and rust-free example of a one-year-only Wildcat model. As far as I can tell, this is a genuine Gran Sport. It has the all the correct GS emblem, BS code transmission, posi rear (3.42 ratio), aluminum valve covers and chrome air cleaner housing. However, a previous owner replaced the original 425 engine with a '66 401. Car is well equipped with A/C, power windows, 6-way power seat, AM/FM stereo radio, tilt column with wood sport wheel, chrome road wheels, passenger side rear view mirror and door edge guards. Previous owner had extensive restoration work performed including new paint and engine rebuild. The the seats and door panels are original and in excellent condition. Dashboard chrome is real nice. The seat belts were missing so I recently had a complete set of seat belts redone in matching red. Correct original Buick floormats are installed front and rear. The exterior stainless trim is just about perfect and chrome is very nice. The convertible top is in excellent condition and it has the correct glass rear window. Frame and underbody were media blasted and repainted. It is really clean, you can count the spotwelds in the wheel wells and floor pan. The trunk floor, rear body mounts and quarter panels are excellent and appear to have never been rusted or repaired. I've done a considerable amount of maintenance, repairs and upgrades to the car including new radial tires, new water pump, fuel pump and alternator. I was planning on keeping this car for a long time so all the work was done accordingly. The carburetor has just been professionally rebuilt. All radiator and heater hoses have been replaced along with fresh antifreeze. The previous owner had a high-performance cam installed when the engine was rebuilt and the engine would not idle as a Buick should so I had a new factory stock camshaft installed along with a new set of lifters, timing chain and gears. The car runs and drives well. This is a very nice car but just like any other car, it is not perfect. Following are problems/issues I am aware of: Non-numbers matching engine. Original 425 engine replaced with 1966 401 engine. A/C system needs to be recharged, I believe it is still R12. All window work but they are slow. Clock does not work. Radio works but the stereo function of the rear speaker is intermittent. Power antenna was replaced with a non-original unit and it is wired to operate up/down when the radio is turned on and off. Previous owner had installed an auxiliary electric fuel pump and Pertronix electronic ignition system. Please feel free to contact me if you would like additional pictures or information about this car. 1965rivgs
Tom,The car has a 3.42 rear (axle code PW)Very unusual with an AC equipped Wildcat as I believe most AC cars were built with the standard, for GS, 3:23 rear gear. Most 3:42 equipped GS`s I have inspected are non-AC cars.Mike, do you have any original docs like the Protecto-Plate, build sheet or original dealer bill of sale? Thanks, Tom
