Fordophiles, what is you passion?

My original posting was outside the scope of the forum. I am therefore changing it to the following. If you are the owner of an antique Ford product, anything from 1903 up through 1981, what is the appeal of that particular car or cars to you? Was it style, dependability, or something else. It would be interesting to see why we Fordophiles are passionate about our cars. I own a 1957 Thunderbird, which I consider to be one of the best styled cars of the 1950's. Add to that my father's excitement about Ford cars and I was hooked. There are other factors too, but those are the most important factors to me.

Lew,

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">I will go into the reason that I don't currently own a Ford in a future posting, </div></div> Again, 25 years old and older?

Just a reminder that this thread must remain within the guidelines of the AACA Forum Mission Statement and purpose, of which, I assume you read.

The AACA Forum policy will not be the venue to critique "any" vendor / customer problems.

Thank you in advance,

I own a 1929 Ford Model A Phaeton. I also have a 1964 Ford F100. My daily driver is a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. It is a great car for work. For my personal everyday non-work transportation, I drive a GM produced SUV that I bought used because it was the best deal for pulling the trailer to haul the Model A to AACA Shows. I happen to personally think that the type of SUV that I bought fit my needs and I am not financially able to go out and buy a replacement SUV just to help out a particular manufacturer. I really like my Model A Ford, but I guess owning it does not make me a Fordophile. I tend to believe that all manufacturers must make what the customer wants and they will sell. I think that all of the domestic auto manufacturers are having some tough times right now. It is not just a Ford problem. I saw an article in the local paper a few days ago that indicated that several manufacturers were struggling with excess inventory right now.

With another 5 plus billion dollar loss this year the handwriting is probably on the wall. They claim that most of their losses are from employee buyouts and that Ford actually makes a profit in the overseas market, interesting.

I used to drive a daily driver Ford and had good luck with it and my brother is a diehard fan and owner. I believe that Jaguar has cost Ford over 6 billion dollars since they were purchased years ago. To me the Jaguar styling seems to be going in reverse even though there is some decent performance on the high end models that nobody buys. To me Ford products seem boring (less Mustang & GT) however I hope they can make a comeback before their cash reserves run out.
