I 'm told it is the first SC/Rambler in the AACA !!!! I will never regret joining as it has been great. I tell everyone at the local shows to check the AACA out and some say they they will. Thanks again to everyone that talked me into joining when I first started posting a few months ago, I never dreamed that this would happen (my Dad about fell over when I showed him the magazine and that isn't funny at his age, Ha,Ha....!!!) I have to be like the only guy to have his car in AACA & HOT ROD magazines at the same time. I think this is very cool. 24T42 Posted July 31, 2005 Share Posted July 31, 2005 Wayne,Couldn't agree more except on one VERY minor point. In years past, the winners of the newsletter and web contest were listed. They did list the winners of award of merit, dinstinction, and excellence as well as the Master edtitors. I understand that space in the magazine is limited but you would think they would at least acknowledge the Master Web and print editors. At first I thought you were talking about the Barracuda featured on the cover, but barracudas don't live in streams. I admire those who think of different ways in which to spell words (I've become quite a master at it myself), but this time your effort was a little confusing. This may have been the first show for the Locomobile as the owner lived nearby. I thought I took more pictures, but alas, West is a professional...me? This issue is an exception as our club picnic/meeting is at the end of the month instead of the middle, & we usually pass the newsletter out at the meetings & mail the remainder. I'm on the same route as another club member, he STILL gets his before I do. The postal yak just went by & I <span style="font-style: italic"><span style="font-weight: bold">actually</span></span>got the magazine in my grubby, old-car-greased little hands! It does look good. Owned by the prez of our region (GSMR), Dick Jones. First time we did the run, he beat me by a measly second. He blamed it on last time he went racing it was a guy with a flag & not the lights. I told him it was because he was an OLD MAN & COULDN'T SEE THE LIGHTS! That got him going. Next time we made a run, he made his hemi do WHAT IT WAS SUPPOSE TO DO, & he laid it on & beat me by 3 seconds. I told him that now he acted like he was driving a hemi & not a Moped! Guest Moepar Posted August 4, 2005 Share Posted August 4, 2005 Thanks Ron. Yes those are factory 'big car & truck' road wheels. They were optional on all the C-bodies in late 60's & early '70's. This is a '71 300, and my hubby has a '70 300 with the same wheels. We did do one minor modification on the wheels of the car pictured, & you really have to be familiar with the road wheels of that era-we put the spinners on the hub. Although not techinically the 'biggest' wheel that Chrysler had at the time-Imperials had the biggest bolt pattern at least into the late 70's, so you couldn't interchange the wheels from an Imperial with any other Chrysler product (I think they were 1/2" wider between the studs). Ron Green Posted August 5, 2005 Share Posted August 5, 2005 My 55 is a Pontiac however I do have a 86 Dodge Van I bought new and still use as a daily driver. I used to be the dunce of selling good vehicles (see other post on 67 GTO). I bought a 64 Chrysler off my aunt that was a few years old as she bought a new car almost every year. I am unsure as to the model but it had the 413, torgueflite tranny, consol shifter, rectangular steering wheel, etc and would get rubber in 2nd gear. She paid I believe a little over 5K in 1964 for the car. Approximately 6 years latter I sold it for $200.I stopped up at Chrysler's at Carlisle and was amazed at the lineup of 300's on the show field.
