Hey everybody, wait till you get the next AACA Magazine. The cover is a knockout. You may have seen it before somewhere! Good stories inside, too. Great job, West! Wayne

It is a great magazine and I'm honored that my Hurst SC/Rambler was showen on page 42. I 'm told it is the first SC/Rambler in the AACA !!!! I will never regret joining as it has been great. I tell everyone at the local shows to check the AACA out and some say they they will.

Thanks again to everyone that talked me into joining when I first started posting a few months ago, I never dreamed that this would happen (my Dad about fell over when I showed him the magazine and that isn't funny at his age, Ha,Ha....!!!)

I have to be like the only guy to have his car in AACA & HOT ROD magazines at the same time. I think this is very cool.

It was great to see all the fine cars and meet some of you at the Greensburg Pa meet.

thanks,

Matt Wilson

Wayne,

Couldn't agree more except on one VERY minor point. In years past, the winners of the newsletter and web contest were listed. They did list the winners of award of merit, dinstinction, and excellence as well as the Master edtitors. I understand that space in the magazine is limited but you would think they would at least acknowledge the Master Web and print editors. It wouldn't take that much space to list the 2 dozen winners.

Just my .02 worth.

Judy, My comments were misleading. I just scanned through the issue, but noticed the "stream car" article which I had researched previously. As usual, West beat me to the punch of printing an article on it, although I do have a bunch of pictures of the car. I'll check it out completely this week. Wayne

Wayne,

I finally figured it out. You meant "Steam Car," as in the 1899 Locomobile featured in the new issue. At first I thought you were talking about the Barracuda featured on the cover, but barracudas don't live in streams.

I admire those who think of different ways in which to spell words (I've become quite a master at it myself), but this time your effort was a little confusing.

You guySSS!!! Give me a break. What little time I've had to play and you're worried about spelling? West, I'll send you a copy of my "red neck" dictionary next week. Sorry, Judy. You need to think slower like me to figure out what I said!??? I think! Good night all. Wayne

Wayne,

Your sense of humor is just one reason why everyone loves ya.

Steve,

I figured it was just oversite about the Master editor awards. One only has to Philly to see that National treats these awards on equal basis with the car restoration and service awards. You and West are both doing GREAT!!!! We, the members, do not say often enough thanks for the job you are doing, the time you spend, and/or your devotion to the job.

So, THANKS from this member.

Picture #3. This picture was taken on the Bull Run Region show field in Manassas, Virginia about 2 years ago. This may have been the first show for the Locomobile as the owner lived nearby. I thought I took more pictures, but alas, West is a professional...me? Just a wanabe. Wayne

PS, Read more about this car in the July/August Antique Automobile

Now you know what I go through just about every time there is an issue due out. My Dad usally gets his 2 to 7 days before me. There are 5 routes out of this post office and we aren't on the same one although we're only like 5 or 7 blocks away (depends on how you're counting the blocks. couple dead end streets and back tracking invovled in getting there)

I know what you mean. Usually I get mine a few weeks after my newsletter comes out. This issue is an exception as our club picnic/meeting is at the end of the month instead of the middle, & we usually pass the newsletter out at the meetings & mail the remainder. I'm on the same route as another club member, he STILL gets his before I do.

The postal yak just went by & I actuallygot the magazine in my grubby, old-car-greased little hands! grin.gifIt does look good. Now how to keep it away from my hubby long enough to read it......

This is me on my second run at Rockingham drag strip. I figure a car this big, going on 2 1/2 tons, making the second best time was pretty good. I'll post the car that beat me in my next post

The '66 Hemi Satelitte that was only car capable of running mine over at the strip that day. Owned by the prez of our region (GSMR), Dick Jones. First time we did the run, he beat me by a measly second. He blamed it on last time he went racing it was a guy with a flag & not the lights. I told him it was because he was an OLD MAN & COULDN'T SEE THE LIGHTS! That got him going. Next time we made a run, he made his hemi do WHAT IT WAS SUPPOSE TO DO, & he laid it on & beat me by 3 seconds. I told him that now he acted like he was driving a hemi & not a Moped! grin.gifgrin.gif

Thanks Ron. Yes those are factory 'big car & truck' road wheels. They were optional on all the C-bodies in late 60's & early '70's. This is a '71 300, and my hubby has a '70 300 with the same wheels. We did do one minor modification on the wheels of the car pictured, & you really have to be familiar with the road wheels of that era-we put the spinners on the hub. Although not techinically the 'biggest' wheel that Chrysler had at the time-Imperials had the biggest bolt pattern at least into the late 70's, so you couldn't interchange the wheels from an Imperial with any other Chrysler product (I think they were 1/2" wider between the studs).

Just an added bit of Mopar trivia.

So, Ron, you gonna post a pic of YOUR Mopar?? grin.gifIf your the fella I'm thinking of, I think you have a '55.

My 55 is a Pontiac however I do have a 86 Dodge Van I bought new and still use as a daily driver. I used to be the dunce of selling good vehicles (see other post on 67 GTO).

I bought a 64 Chrysler off my aunt that was a few years old as she bought a new car almost every year. I am unsure as to the model but it had the 413, torgueflite tranny, consol shifter, rectangular steering wheel, etc and would get rubber in 2nd gear. She paid I believe a little over 5K in 1964 for the car. Approximately 6 years latter I sold it for $200.

I stopped up at Chrysler's at Carlisle and was amazed at the lineup of 300's on the show field.
