Guest imported_kingsting
As a Mini owner there's no way I'm going to let you guys forget about the original Italian Job. It has one of the best car-chases ever to hit the silver screen.

Guest Hal Davis (MODEL A HAL)
What was the deal with that supercharger that turned off and on with the flip of a switch? Electric clutch? Where was the engine getting air from when the supercharger wasn't turned on?
R W Burgess
Hal, Probably a centrifugal supercharger...wait a minute, this was a movie. The car probably had carbs inside the blower box with the appropiate "sound track" added for autheticity. Wayne
Guest BruceW
Hal,Maybe the supercharger worked off the same principle as the Flux Capacitor in the Delorean that Michael J. Fox drove in Back to the Future.

Guest Skyking
Last night I watched Adam 12 after coming in from the garage. Nick at Night is rerunning this show now. I think it was the first episode. Malloy & Reed were chasing a 1959 Buick Electra 4 door H.T.through the streets of L.A. I had the feeling they were going to crash this car. Sure enough they chased it into a ditch and totaled it. The show had to be filmed in 1967 because the cops were driving a 67 Plymouth. That meant the Buick was 8 years old........It was sad to see such a nice car destroyed.......

In fact, Toyota did something similiar with the s/c's used on the MR2 and Previa vans. I think Max's black Interceptor was supposed to run on nitromethane or something...so it was probably fuel injected, in which case it would work. Reality again: who cares, it's cool as spit!! Lots of answers about the Mad Max cars and trilogy here.
caf
No one probably remembers "Genevive" a great British movie made in the fifties about the London to Brighton run. I has many old cars, the stars being a Dutch Spyker and a 1904 Darracq. I think it starred Terry Thomas and Kay Kendell. Any memories out there?? SeriousWheels
Depends on what you mean by "best." It's not high art, but I'll have to go with the original "Gone in 60 Seconds." Pure mayhem...
Guest
Hi All,I am looking for information on the whereabouts of any of the four original 1971 Lincolns modified for the main character car in the movie 'The Car'-- the best movie car ever! To refresh your memory, visit the web page is its creator's site, George Barris, at http://www.barris.com/gallery_thecar.html I hear one turns up now and then at Barris museums, but are there others and who owns them? Are there any replicas for sale? This awesome car is my favorite movie car of all time, hence the interest. Any and all help is appreciated and I can be reached at matt@supergenius.net. Thank you in advance!Matt
Guest
Hey there! Did you try emailing the George Barris website? I am a fan of the car used in the movie and I too have wondered whatever happened to it. I emailed the site but didn't get a response. You might, though.
Guest Stephen Lyons
I'm surprised that Christine didn't make the top 10 list....How about John Steed's Bentley from "The Avengers"?Also, I found the ornate, baroque car in the movie "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" to be visually very striking. Wonder what has become of it?

Guest
Thank you for responding! I contacted the barris.com site and Joji Barris responded. She only said there were models of 'The Car' for sale and said that Mr. Barris was not interested in 'cloning' the car. I bought a couple of autographed pictures of the car, though, and guess those will have to do for now.
