What car did your "Hero" drive??

John Blair started it in his thread. Mine was Ed "Kookie" Burns on 77 Sunset Strip. His t-bucket is now owned by Jerry Duncan of York, Pa. As a side note, Satellite station "Good TV" ran the old 77 shows a couple of months ago, then they disappeared. I at least got to see Kookie drive this little white haired lady around a corner in his t-bucket real fast. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />Wayne

Kookie's T was in fact the car built by Norm Grabowsky. FULL page photo in the April 29,1957 issue of LIFE Magazine. (How I remember this stuff scares me!)Wayne, are you sure Jerry Duncan has this car now? I know he has the "Happy Day's" TV show 28-29 Model A pickup. The REAL Grabowsky T has been restored and has a documented past, there are a few knockoff copies that were built in recent years as well.

1921 Mercer Raceabout, William H. Oexle, the man that tought me how to restore cars. This Mercer was the first car I got to work on that went on to win an AACA National First Prize, but driving it was more fun. My bigest "Hero" was my Dad, that is why I'm restoring a 1937 Harley, just like the one he bought new.

Bob, You're right. Jerry does have the Happy Days car "only". I love this place. Can't put nothing past you guys. And I don't know your hero or even Crabby's. I lived a sheltered childhood. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Wayne

I believe Kookie's car is here in Johnstown. It has a placque on the dashboard, but I wouldn't swear that it is not a knock-off.

the vehicle - 1935 Ford pickup

My Hero - Samuel Edgar Tumer

Mr. Tumer was my maternal grandfather that gave me the only thing worthwhile that he had to give me... his 1935 Ford pickup.

My grandfather drove the pickup since it was new (first as a company truck that was later given to him to own). For 30 years the pickup sat in a shed. He gave me the pickup a few years before he died. The pickup got me interested in antique vehicles and was the reason for my first trip to Fall Hershey when I was 17. The interest in antique vehicles that the pickup started has extended to involvement in the AACA on both regional and national.
