Bluebeard & Rainbow Brite
Hey folks I installed an electric wiper motor two years ago. Everything worked great until it didn't. My wipers do operate with full range of motion that they should operate with. They don't go all the way down or all the way up. The range they do move is from the middle of what the range is and then about 2 inches up and down from that. wiper motor runs and sounds normal. any tips I will attach a link to a youtube video https://youtube.com/shorts/A7ohW1kCYcg?si=wOKda1-skd4FrD0n this is the wiper motor I have https://newportwipers.com/product/1955-56-buick-special-century/#wiper-motor Edited April 19 by Bluebeard & Rainbow Brite added more information.at (see edit history)
rocketraider
Don't know anything on the Newport system but on a Delco wiper motor that signals either a bad ground or something internal on the motor. Usually park circuit. I'd call Newport and see what they say. 1
JACK M
Posted twice. Read my comments in your other post. New Port has good products, and I will bet that something has slipped out of place.
61polara
On Buicks of the time, there is a small leaver labeled wide and narrow on the back side of the swithc. Narrow increased the speed of the vacuum wipers but narrowed the field of wipe. Has this switch been moved to the narrow position?
Ben Bruce aka First Born
I second Glenn. I have the Newport wiper on the 1950. Excellent! Call them I would! Ben

61polara
If your car had this option, It may have been removed when the wipers were converted to electric as it looks like this changed the vacuum routing on the vacuum wiper motor.

I did the replacement with a variable speed knob. it worked fine up until recently
61polara
Crawl under the dash and see what is going on with the cables. Also pull the electric motor and see if it is traveling the full wipe distance.
