Hi there. I am struggling. I have 1955 buick special that I installed a new choke cover and spring. The car was running well for a few days. I drove it about 100 miles or so and then it puttered out. I managed to limp home with it. My first question is about choke adjustment First off previous owner pinched off the line that runs from choke to manifold. Car is not run in cold weather so I am wondering if this impacts anything? Secondly there are no markings on the choke cover to mark the correct setting, so how do I determine the correct setting.?
I am also assuming since the choke cover is supposed to come with a gasket that it is then meant to be tightened full so the cover does not move, is this correct.? when I do get it to start it sounds airy like a wind sound. more wind than motor growl. but when I slightly push the accelerator from under the hood it sounds a bit better but as soon as I release accelerator and it returns to idle speed it stalls out. Do I adjust the timing ? Not sure if that is in my skill set or not..
Finally Oil pressure. When driving oil pressure goes to High on the guage and Stays there. what should I check to troubleshoot as I think it should be in the normal range when driving
As always thanks to my fellow Buick enthusiasts for helping out
