Douglas Gilmore Brown
This clock was also in that box lot of old tools. Face would fit into a 2 5/8 inch hole in a dashboard. Would this be for an American car, or a foreign car? Is it for a specific make, or is it a generic item?

8E45E
I would say a US-made car like a Cadillac, or an ACD product, as it has 'USA' markings on the back of it. Craig
Terry Bond
The small size and pull-string winding mechanism are consistent with clocks used in rear view mirrors. They attached with small clips holding them onto the mirror. The Jaeger clocks were not very expensive but were a well-known brand name and a reliable time-piece. Rear-view clock mirrors were popular aftermarket accessories. Some were even offered as dealer installed accessory items with car manufacturers logos imprinted on them.
