NC-car-guy
Seller indicates it needs an engine. I wonder if it's something simpler.... Ad text: Price is firm. First grand that comes to me gets the car. Up for sale is my 1991 Buick Lesabre. This is a project car. Power everything still even works on the drivers side for the seat. Will run under it's own power but now well. The car randomly shuts off no matter if you are going slow or accelerating. I was told it needed heavy valve work or a good used engine. What's good about this car is there's a straight body with no rust. Also, the interior is next to flawless with the exception of the absent headliner. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/357131757003774/?mibextid=dXMIcH
suchan
Sounds like maybe a sensor gone haywire. I had a problem like that with a '98 Ford Ranger. Looks like a nice car otherwise.

lancemb
Yeah, doesn't sound like mechanical engine failure. Definitely fixable.

EmTee
Crankshaft Position Sensor? 1991 was right in the middle of the period where these were being replaced regularly. Another possibility is the 'missing magnet' issue in the cam gear. The car looks too good to have been abused...
