Paul Wilmoth
I am looking for the vin# location on my 1933 Cadillac ? If they came with one, I have the tags on the right side of the cowl. I was told there was a vin number under the "A" pillar on the frame. If so the body has to be off or lifted. I am just trying find put some history on the car. The history will determine the route I go on the Restorations.
61polara
Cars of this period were generally titled using the motor number. Your car appears to have the original motor in it as it is #821 and the body is #820. There was no such thing as a matching number car then, so you would expect the motor number and body number to be close. Contact GM Heritage and the can provide you with the build card with this information.
28 Chrysler
Scroll down to the Cadillac section and ask about the serial number locations. VIN numbers came about many years after your car was built, each company had their own system they used.
pmhowe
What 61polara said: According to the Cadillac and LaSalle Club Authenticity Manual, prior to 1934 engine and chassis numbers did not match, but were close. In 1934 Cadillac started making the numbers match.
alsancle
I believe it is on the chassis, left front just above the axle on the top side.
