56 minutes ago, Fossil said:I guess I'm not one to look down on an electric fuel pump. I do think it's nice to have them tucked out of sight on a nice old car like this.

The only problem with an electric pump on an ancient carburetor is that the electric pump can easily overpower the needle-seat and float leading to a dangerous fuel leak situation.

The original “fuel pump” was a vacuum tank that sent fuel to the carburetor by gravity.  The pressure was minuscule. 1/2 psi?
Even with pressure reducers it is difficult to get the pressure that low.

It looks like a wonderful car, fix the vacuum tank (not that difficult) move the electric pump to the rear to use to prime the vacuum tank and you are ready to enjoy.

Ajax cars are truly rare.  They are not "Nash Ajaxes,"

but simply Ajaxes, because Ajax was the marque's name.

They were companion cars manufactured by Nash Motor.

The Ajax marque was short-lived, and when the Ajax brand

was discontinued, some cars were rebadged as Nashes,

making Ajaxes rarer still.

A member of our AACA region has a restored one

that has been for sale due to his diminished health.

I don't know whether it has sold yet, but if anyone

is interested, I can provide further information.

It was realistically priced, I felt.

The subject car has been rebadged as a Nash, evidently;

our local member's car is a true Ajax.
