Floyd J
I have a marvel updraft carb on my 1929 Buick 6 cylinder motor that’s in my 29 GM truck. My question is can I get a new carb somewhere. The picture explains that it is in poor shape. I liquid welded it but a better fix is warranted

Bill - 29 Buick
Floyd J: I published the 1929 Silver Anniversary Buick Newsletter. I would like to get a couple of pictures of your truck and engine and a story for the newsletter. You can contact me at <Bill@29buick.ca>. Thanks. raydurr
I would like to see some photos of your engine as well. I saw a GMC with a Buick 6. It had a two or three piece exhaust manifold as well as a much wider fan v-belt.
Rod Miles
Floyd, I'm interested if you in fact went to a completely different carburetor? I"m interested in parts from your old one? If you want to keep all I understand. However, there is a small arm that links the metering pin to the throttle, I can see it attached to the pin in your second photo above the thumb. Are you interested in selling such parts? Thanks, Rod Miles Buick Member 48784
Hubert_25-25
Rod, What year Buick carburetor are you wanting that link for? I do have a drawing of one of them. The technical term is the metering pin link. I also have a drawing on the metering pin. Hugh

tcslr
Is the metering pin link the same for the 31 and 32 years?
Floyd J
Sorry I’ve been away from the chat. I did buy a new carb from Vintage carb, I could part with the piece but might be easier to get new, just let me know. Here is a picture of my motor
Floyd J
I got a question. I’m presuming that black canister above the starter is some sort of oil filter that’s been bypassed. What would be the reason for that?
Hubert_25-25
Those oil filters had pot metal connections that expanded and caused leaks. I have a 1926 Buick and I plan to put a screw on oil filter to replace that old style cannister which is no longer available.
Highlifer
I got a complete replica oil filter canister from Bobs Automobilia for a reasonable price.
raydurr
Your engine is a Standard engine. Fan and pulleys are truck only. Engine looks 1928 due to not having the boss for a mechanical fuel pump.
