Moved a 1956 Buick Special.

I brought home a 1956 Special for my old friend Joe yesterday. He had another at one time and always kicked himself for selling it. I drove it in and out of the trailer. It runs and drives. Needs some TLC. Joe is very attentive to details. He will get everything just right in time. It's claim to fame, it was in the recent West Side Story movie.

Transport vehicle is a 1990 Chevy Suburban. Photo taken just before we left. The Buick Super has an AC unit under the dash. The nail head looks very complete.

The body and trunk looks very solid for a 67 year old car. Can any one decode this plate? Paint and interior codes? The AC compressor and bracket is in the trunk.

Dual exhaust option , quiet rare on a Special . The manifolds are similar

to a header design and gave additional HP over the std 220 hp !

BK1755 tells us this is was the 1755th 1956 Buick body built at the Fairfax, Kansas BOP plant. Early production, so it should have the screen in the hood scoop, not the painted plates. 
 

I think our ‘56 Special is BK970.
