TexRiv_63
I need to identify this Buick item. It is clear plastic, 3 1/2" diameter, with the 1948-52 style Buick logo back painted / plated in gold, silver, red and blue. The logo looks great but all the rest of the piece is transparent. Looks like a horn button face but all the ones on Google are either colored all over or show a model name. TIA for any help.
TexRiv_63
Nobody? I have been told on Facebook that this was designed to fit over a colored plastic bezel with a chrome outer ring and used as a horn button but cannot find a good photo or specific year / model use, any idea? keiser31
Looks to be about a 1947 Horn button with the gold background area worn off. 1

I can tell you though that nothing has worn off the piece I have, more like it was mounted on top of the gold colored center.
3macboys
After @keiser31 gave his response I took another look at the pictures and noticed the residue from the gold on the ridges. I don't know why or how someone would have gone to the trouble to do that and manage to not disturb the center portion but sure looks like they did. 61polara
This is a 1948-1947 Buick horn button center. There is an etched brass disk that goes behind it. Here are the various parts and the final assembly. This is a clear center and ivory outer ring that I cast and painted. I wish I could find someone to chrome and gold plate these items in small quanties. 28 Chrysler
I worked on a British car horn button that the gold paint was flaking off. An air hose took most of the rest off, not much of a bond to the plastic.
