Aaron E. Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 Hello, New to the forum and hoping somebody has a 640 series distributor tucked away and for sale. I own my grandfather’s 1927 Master Six with the pot metal distributor. It’s now stuck in the generator and starting to crack… If someone could point me in the right direction I’d GREATLY appreciate it! Aaron
60FlatTop Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 I have a parts generator with the distributor gears and bits that may get damaged if you take yours apart. I would sell it all for $40 plus shipping. I think it will all go into a small USPS flat rate box.
Aaron E. Posted January 2, 2023 Author Posted January 2, 2023 60FlatTop - I’m working on another angle, but I’m keeping this in mind. Might say yes to your offer in a few days. Thank you!
Jeff Spear Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 If Aaron has passed on this I am interested. Thank you Jeff
Tim D Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 I am also looking for a distributor body any leads please message me.
Grant L. Meredith Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Was a 640j for sale on eBay. I see it sold. I was hoping I got to u in time. Sorry. The seller is Americanvintageparts Keep an eye on him. He seems to come up with stuff like this a lot
Jeff Spear Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 I ended up with that distributor off eBay and an Oldsmobile one that he had with a gear on it. I don't know yet if I have a distributor gear that will work or not. Also looks like the olds distributor might be an option for the Buick. I'm going to try and figure this out today. 1
60FlatTop Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 Jeff, Here are pictures of the distributor that I sold from the parts generator. They may help you identify what you need. I sold it to a buyer in Austria in '17 but keep my pictures.

Bobs sells new gears still I believe
Jeff Spear Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 well, I'll need a gear for my 640 the gear I have is a different shaft size and tooth count. It looks like Bob's only has the older gears I need 28 and up. If anyone has a source for one or one for sale. Perhaps the older gear can be fitted to the 640? 1
Jeff Spear Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 Bob's did have the gear I just could not find them on the website.

Bill - 29 Buick Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 I have 2 of these gears which I believe are 25-28 Buick. Price is US$110 + ship. PM me if you want one. Will be taking them to Hershey (OAG - 20-22). Bill McLaughlin 1929 McLaughlin Buick Roadster
Jeff Spear Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 Hi Bill, Thank you for the offer the gears you have are 26-27. I need 28-30 I think yours can be cut down and drilled for a pin if the shaft size is the same. However, Bob's does have the correct gear for 28-30 so I don't need to try and cut one down. This is the 28-30 gear.
Fred Rawling Posted November 22 Posted November 22 The only difference between the 1927 gear and the 1928 - 1930 gear is the height of the shaft above the teeth. Think about it. We take a 28-30 distributor and drop it in a 26 -27 generator and it works. Cut the top off your early gear.
Grant L. Meredith Posted November 26 Posted November 26 Just saw a tough 640J for sale on eBay. Seller is Strictly Vintage Auto. 6 days to go. No bids yet. $39.99 to start 1
