(craigslist.org) Seller's Description: 1955 Pontiac Chieftain, (ORIGINAL CONDITION). This car is rust free, The engine was overhauled in 1988 and repainted the same year. The paint is 2 tone Green, Dark Green on the top and light green on the bottom as close to the original colors as was possible in 1988. The Hydra-Matic Transmission was overhauled in August of 2022. Fossil Posted November 22, 2022 Share Posted November 22, 2022 (edited) This would be a great car if it had power steering. I've always liked these cars and was hoping to buy one for my first car. Ended up with a Corvair instead. 😬 The 4 spd automatic seemed like a good idea at the time and the cars looked better to me than any of the tri-fives and their 2 spd power-glides. I had a 57 Olds without power steering and it had much better driving characteristics than usual for the era. You could actually feel what the front end was doing.
