1964 Impala
Hoping someone here can point me in the right direction about a good place to buy standard bore piston rings for a Buick 248. The engine itself is a 1949 without Babbitt bearings but was swapped into a 1940 Buick Business coupe shown below. Does anyone have a part number on the oil filter for that engine either? I can’t seem to locate one. Thanks, TR
Gary W
I used EGGE for my pistons and rings. Ask for HASTINGS Rings. NOT GRANT brand. The Grant rings were so brittle they cracked upon installation. Edited October 13, 2022 by Gary W (see edit history)

BuickBob49
My 1949 Super takes a Baxter P26 filter cartridge. It is the same as a P-127 filter cartridge that was OEM. NAPA sells a filter cartridge that supposedly is correct, but it is too tall. I recall that it is a Wix filter. I use the same P26 Baxter filter cartridge for my 1939 Roadmaster, which has a postwar replacement engine and has a postwar filter set up. Bob's has the cartridges. egm262
I got rings for my 1926 Master Six from Otto Gas Engine Works in Elkton, MD. The owner, Dave, is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to rings. I was able to pick mine up in person and his supply of rings is beyond imagination. His website is ringspacers.com. He can be tough to reach on the phone, it's all a matter of timing.
